3. Hydropods
Hydropods is based in Denver Co.
and manufacturers controllers to
monitor various aspects of gardening
operations.Three controller packages
were designed, trade show back
boards and sales sheets.

Trade show boards went through many
iterations. Initially, Hydropods wanted to
include every aspect of each of its controllers.
This made for a overly busy arrangement.
After many iterations and changing board
sizes, a minimalist design was settled upon.

7. Mouser
Using existing components from a Logitech
computer mouse, I used Solidworks to design the
form around it. It is futuristic and ergonomic. The
mouse was produced on a 3D printer and then
painted.
10. As an alternative to the traditional exploded view, a
magician has been portrayed levitating the mouse from
his hand and out towards the viewer. Attention to depth
of field makes the presentation much more dramatic.
11. This is my favorite render of the mouse. It has been super
sized and placed in a desert scene as transport rover. Notice
the two characters placed just above this text for scale.
12. Project rational was design a product that is easily
reproducible and fit in the Herman Miller line.

13. Sketches to Sketch ModelY-Table
For this project, I wanted
to use bentwood and if
possible an interlocking,
repeating shape.
14. Solidworks SketchesY-Table
After some research, custom cut glass was not
cost efficient. Off-the-shelf round glass was used.
The form of the table was altered but the overall
look would benefit from the symmetrical aesthetic
the circular glass provided.

Y-Table Bill of Materials
Poplar and laminate were pre-cut into 24”x 24” squares.
Off-the-shelf round glass was used to save cost over custom cut.
16. Y-Table is designed with
production in mind. Seven jigs
were created for the process.
Each step of the process is
displayed in the production
manual.Three identical tables
were produced.

18. Perfect Pour
Perfect Pour is a housewares project
with open guidelines. Special needs
and arthritis forums revealed an aid in
pouring carton sized containers was
needed.
19. Browsing special needs forums
and talking with residents at Park
Place Senior Living, it was found
that a product was needed to aid in
pouring beverages from half-gallon
cartons. In a survey of residents,
85% indicated they purchased this
size carton.The other 15% used
quarts because of their weight and
handle ability.
Pouring aids on the market
primarily focus on tea and coffee
pots. Designs used complicated
wire structures that are costly to
manufacture and difficult to clean.
Research
20. Perfect Pour Market Research
Wire framed aids can bind
and the inexpensive welds
break easily.
Some solutions are too
specific and accommodate
only one type of container.
Overly complex designs
have many parts and are
costly to produce.
21. Perfect Pour Ideation A design that required the very minimum amount of hand strength was desired. Finding a balance
that would use the cartons weight to the advantage of the user and have a natural feel was the goal.
22. Perfect Pour Sketch Models
The rocker made the apparatus easy
to pour. This also added the feeling of
control.
Adding a longer curve slowed the
motion adding even more control.
The handle was removed giving
a more natural feel and intuitive
interface.
Sketch model testing revealed the rocker model to be very efficient and minimal. These models allowed the correct curvature to be
found that would allow the carton to be easily tipped. The weight of the carton would bring the carton back to an upright position.
23. Perfect Pour Testing
At Park Place Senior Living, Edna
Grishow, among others, provided
valuable feedback. Residents were
quite happy to use the product.
24. Prototype Materials and Construction:
Hand cut acrylic PMMA bonded with
acrylic solvent and treated with a
rubberized texture to prevent slippage.
Production Materials and Production:
One piece construction, injection molded
HDPE into a four piece mold. Food safe,
high durability rubberized coating applied
afterwards.

27. Jelly Belly
I was hired by Eightch to conceptualize a
series of characters for Jelly Belly to be
injection molded jellybean containers.
28. Jelly Belly Customer Examples
Eightch provided a few examples of what they
were looking for. From here we came up with
which characters they would like for the two
collections and I proceeded to create them in
Adobe Illustrator.
