Not the same as authority -- may be influence.
Both your colleagues and the rest of the folks in your life.
Both about what part of the world it serves and about interacting with stakeholders
For a for-profit this can be measured in the creation of monetary value (or the likelihood of doing so). For a non-profit it can be measured in turning resources into value creation. If an organization is not effectively using its resources then it’s probably not an effective use of yours.
How someone that can do this role as well as you can is valued in the market and the value to the company. More collaboration than a negotiation.
The earlier stage the company the more the people themselves are a proxy for these.
