Chip, known originally as Chipmunk, began rapping at age 14 and gained recognition at 16 when brought to a radio show. His debut album "I am Chipmunk" was released in 2009 with hit singles. His second album "Transition" included songs with American artists like Trey Songz to diminish criticism. He later changed his stage name to Chip and signed with T.I.'s label Grand Hustle Records.
