Improved Active Power Filter Performance for Renewable Power Generation Systems
Description:
An active power filter implemented with a four-leg voltage-source inverter using a predictive control
scheme is presented. The use of a four-leg voltage-source inverter allows the compensation of current
harmonic components, as well as unbalanced current generated by single-phase nonlinear loads. A detailed
yet simple mathematical model of the active power filter, including the effect of the equivalent power system
impedance, is derived and used to design the predictive control algorithm. The compensation performance of
the proposed active power filter and the associated control scheme under steady state and transient operating
conditions is demonstrated through simulations and experimental results.
Analytical Structure for Fuzzy Pi and Pd Controllers
Description:
It is well known that PI & PD controllers are very popular and are used in most of industries such as
in electric drives, robotics, chemical and manufacturing industries. This is because of the fact that PI & PD
controllers have simple structure, contains less components and has simple tuneable control gains. However,
these conventional PI & PD controllers are usually not effective if the processes are nonlinear, complex and
mathematical models are not exact.
In this project, we derive the analytical structures for fuzzy PI+PD controllers by using minimum
triangular norm, different combinations of triangular co-norms (maximum, drastic sum), different inference
methods ( such as Mamdani minimum, Larsen product, drastic product) and center-of-sum de-fuzzification
method.
