With a population of about 1.3 billion
China is one of the most populous countries in the world and
one of the countries with higher economic growth. Life
expectancy is around 70 years old, approximately 5% of the
national wealth is spent on health.
• China has 22 provinces, of which, 5 autonomous regions
• and 4 municipalities, governmental levels taking cities,
counties and districts, the lowest levels are the districts and
villages.
• Since 1949 the Republic of China was established. This brought
benefits in terms of health, around 2000 a health service run
by hospitals, but can provide only a small part of these
services at the level of oral health occurred.
• With respect to exercise a degree is required, the government
is also the supervisor of operators for dental assistants are well
distinguished.
• The knowledge of the professionals in preventive dentistry
was outdated.
• Until 1980 they had not taken courses in preventive dentistry
in dental schools in China, when the first Department of
Preventive Dentistry was established in the Faculty of
Stomatology, Beijing Medical College (now
• Faculty of Stomatology, Peking University).
• According to a recent study 90% of practicing the technique
correctly toothbrushing population.
• There is a fair distribution of goods, this means that all families
receive the same amount of goods depending on the size of it.
This is one more benefit.
• It is organized and delivered to the people according to an
administrative network 3 levels.
• Accounts personalized health insurance are prepared to pay
for health services, including basic oral health care.
• Oral health in China usually provided according to the demand
of patients.
• The service organized for large groups of population, such as
school children is uncommon.
• Most dentists in China working in government general
hospitals, but the hospitals and dental clinics for the private
sector are being developed.
• The funding comes from the account of the person's own
contribution and that of the institution in which the person
works.
• The accounts are managed by a public body created by the
government and the money in the account is spent on health
services.
• In case of an extension, the government will provide funds
"top-up"
It should take more into account and give it the importance it
deserves oral health in our population. While it is true that we
have a service for the CCSS but unfortunately this service is not
good. So you must drive to improve service or opt for other
forms, such as personal and family insurance. That they are more
accessible for all population that exists in the country. And
achieve equity for the prevention and promotion of dental
health.
• In China, for every forty thousand inhabitants is a dentist,
while in our country there is a great variety and number of
dentists, but compared Costa Rica offers the advantage of
studying in a smaller number of years with great success rate
thanks to graduates. Overall as dentists must keep prevention
tool as well as China and the developed countries do, is the
best weapon against the disease.
• Because of the political system of China, it is supossed to have equality of
Access to different services of oral health to the hole population.
• Los Cuadros is a marginal community in Costa Rica that is populated by
poor and extremely poor people, in that case it would mean that they
would be able to Access to dental services.
• In another hand that would mean a total different political system would
be apply at Costa Rica.
• I truly believe in the opportunity that Costa Rica has with a public health
system.
• With our national system, kids and elderly are covered, most of the
workers are covered (except from the avoiders bosses) and family.
