The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens located in Lions Park features beautiful and diverse plant collections maintained by volunteers. It includes a solar-powered conservatory and exterior gardens, as well as the oldest train engine in Wyoming. The gardens and Paul Smith Children's Village are free and open to the public, featuring interactive landscapes like a wetland, sculptures, and a puppet theater.
1. Located in Lions Park, the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is an oasis on the high plains. Senior, youth and handicapped
volunteers maintain beautiful and diverse plant collections. Explore the solar powered conservatory and exterior gardens.
This is also home to Engine 1242, the oldest train engine in Wyoming.
The gardens are open 365 days a year during daylight hours. Bring a picnic, your friends and family, sketchpad, binoculars,
or attend an event such as a concert or a play.
The Paul Smith Children's Village is a three-quarter-acre site is filled with
numerous specialty, interactive landscapes including a natural wetlands,
gravity powered water works, farmers windmill, solar pumps, sculptures,
world vegetable garden, prairie plantings, a "Secret Garden,"
art/crafts plazas, historic sheep wagon, tipi village, picnic orchard, puppet
theater and more.
Admission is free. The Botanic Gardens are at 710 S. Lions Park Drive. For

a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is closed
Sundays & Holidays (except during Glass Art Show). The grounds are
always open from dawn to dusk.
The Paul Smith Children’s Village is also free and is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4
