Characterization The way an author establishes a character
Methods of characterization:
Method 1:  Author tells the reader directly! “”As he crosses the stage, his exhaustion is apparent.”
Method 2:  Actions and words of the character “I won’t have you mending stockings in this house!”
Method 3:  Actions and words of others toward the character “I’ve wanted to talk to you about Dad for a long time, Biff.  Something’s—happening to him.       He---talks to himself.”
