This document discusses different types of paralysis and lack of muscle coordination caused by nerve damage. It defines ataxia as a lack of muscle coordination usually caused by damage to the cerebellum. It describes hemiplegia as paralysis on one side of the body usually caused by brain lesions. Monoplegia is defined as paralysis of a single limb which can be caused by a stroke or nerve inflammation. Diplegia and quadriplegia refer to paralysis of similar limbs on both sides of the body or all four limbs respectively. Finally, it notes that both ataxia and plegia are caused by nerve damage controlled by somatic nerves.
