2. Project Details
 The main goals of the project was explaining the principals of VIV, and then using those principals to
create a model for energy generation which will in turn be used in designing and choosing conditions
for the experimental apparatus.
 To build the Model as a product, extra constraints such as Part Design, Ability to work in minimum
water, Induced emf, Long design life, Magnetic Field Strength, Material selection and low cost
alternatives were taken into consideration
 Testing of the Model was done at College Campus and results wererecorded.
 Referring to various theories of Faraday Law, Energy Equation, Reynolds number and halbech
critria Theory and after several iterations on ANSYS, Magnet and shape of the Cylinder were
selected and applied to the Model.
 Magnet selected for the project was Neodymium Magnets N-42 and for the bluff body cylinder we
used the light material to reduce the weight of the cylinder.
 A millimeter system used to record the reading and the ANSYS simulation on various cross-section
also taken .
