FDNC/ BRIDGES FOR INNOVATION.
WHO WE ARE:
The Foundation for Development of Needy Communities (FDNC) is a
non-governmental organization (NGO) devoted to promote productivity,
innovativeness and self reliance of disadvantaged people with particular
sensitivity to needs of youth, women, the girl child, and tackling the
unemployment problem in Uganda. FDNC serves a large clientele of
vulnerable children, unemployed youth, the girl child, widowed women,
and other vulnerable groups. FDNC is run by a full time secretariat which
is guided and monitored by the Board of Directors, who are answerable to
the Annual General Meeting. For more information about our programs,

WHAT WE OFFER TODAY:
• Institutional Capacity Building for various NGOs, CBOs in the region
• Community Health Program run by 80+ local health volunteers
• Coordinated Income-Generation Activities/ micro finance for groups
of youth, l children and grassroots women
• Social Entrepreneurship/ creative Programs aimed at Mindset
transformation and positive attitude development as we address
poverty related issues.
OBJECTIVES:
• To utilize the acquired land, centrally located in Mbale town, to
construct a multi-use facility to benefit the neediest populations in
Eastern Uganda, and the organizations that assist/support them.
• To supplement our operations with an office and resource centre in
Mbale town and raise income to support sustainability programs.
• To provide broad-ranging services for partner NGOs and CBOs,
including resource centre, library, institution building sessions, etc.
• To offer much-needed conference and meeting facilities for local
NGOs, CBOs, and others at a minimal cost towards sustainability.
• To create a beneficiary run retail business/charity shop and art
gallery for our Skills and entrepreneurship/ creative programs.
• To provide guest rooms at fair prices for guests and student interns.
WHAT YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE:

• Needed equipment or supplies (i.e., building materials, furniture,
office equipment, etc.)

• $15 – Bag of cement (1,000)
• $30 – Truckload of sand for mixing cement (80)
• $20 – 20 litre can of paint (48)
• $50 – 4 Iron bars to reinforce concrete (240)
• $65 – Door hardware (40)
• $60 – Truckload of aggregates/hardcore for floors/ring beams (198)
• $87 – 100 linear feet of lumber for framing roof (96)
• $100 – Truckload of bricks (70)
• $150 – One construction worker for one month (67)
• $250 – 10 Metal sheets for roof (180)
• $100 – Interior/exterior door, including frame (40)
• $90 – Box of floor tiles (70)
• $200 – One electrician or plumber for one month (42)
• $225 – Window, including casement, fasteners, glass, etc. (28)
• $12,400 – Electrical/ Plumbing Materials: pipes, fixtures, and
hardware: wires, conduits, outlets, switches, fixtures
