DESIGN OF OPEN GRADED FRICTION COURSE MIX USING POLYMER MODIFIED BITUMEN(LDPE)ARUN KANNA
Generation of plastics has increased significantly. Utilization of all types of plastics is unavoidable and it will produce non-biodegradable waste materials. The waste plastics are harmful to the environment if it is not disposed properly. It is very useful in the design and development of high quality flexible road pavement. So, adding the waste plastics as additives in the mix design of the pavement was expected to give good performance when comparing with conventional mix. In this project, advantages and development of modified bitumen is to be studied. The dosage of LDPE modified binder has taken as 6%, 8% &10% in the Open Graded Frictional Course (OGFC) mix design by wet process. The result shows the performance of OGFC mix using PMB.
FAIRCRETE W (P) is a ready to use powder admixture based on chloride formulated to accelerate the setting time of concrete under cool winter conditions and to produce high early strength in special application concrete. FAIRCRETE W (P) can be used for providing increased resistance to frost damage during and after construction of hollow blocks. Use of FAIRCRETE W (P) reduces the damage in transportation of blocks. Gives additional frost protection by reducing the water content and accelerating hydration of cement.
Glass fiber reinforced concrete or GFRC is a type of fiber-reinforced concrete. The product is also known as glassfibre reinforced concrete or GRC.Glass fiber concretes are mainly used in exterior building façade panels and as architectural precast concrete.
FAIRFLO 222 is high range water reducing cum slump retainer admixture for concrete, a brown color liquid with base of Sulphonated Naphthalene conforming to ASTM C-494 type 'F' & 'G' and IS 9103-1999. The powerful dispersing nature of FAIRFLO 222 avoids agglomeration of cement particles and distributes them within concrete. This action produces a cohesive, bleeding free, retarding and durable concrete. It can be used with cement and fly ash mix and also with cement alone. Being a high dispersing agent, even low dosage produces a concrete with high effectiveness.

Concrete, Cement, Raw Material of Cement, Types, Water, Aggregates, Sand, Mix...Naqeeb Khan Niazi
Concrete is an engineering material that simulates the properties of rock and is a combination of particles closely bound together. It is simply a blend of aggregates, normally natural sand and gravel or crushed rock.
Cement is a dry powdery substance made by calcining lime and clay, mixed with water to form mortar or mixed with sand, gravel and water to make concrete. It is a binder material. Once hardened, cement delivers sufficient strength to erect large industrial structures
Cement is manufactured through a closely controlled chemical combination of calcium, silicon, aluminum, iron and other ingredients. Common materials used to manufacture cement include limestone, shells, and chalk or marl combined with shale, clay, slate, blast furnace slag, silica sand, and iron ore.
Sand a loose granular material that results from the disintegration of rocks, consists of particles smaller than gravel but coarser than silt, and is used in mortar, glass, abrasives, and foundry molds. : soil containing 85 percent or more of sand and a maximum of 10 percent of clay.

A Compatibility Study on Different Types of Cement and Plasticizerijsrd.com
It has long been a concrete technologist's dream to discover method of making concrete at the lowest possible water/cement ratio while maintaining a high workability. To a considerable extent this dream has been fulfilled with the advent of super plasticizers. It has added a new dimension to the application of admixtures with regards to production of high strength and flow able concretes. It is now possible to produce concrete with compressive strength of the order of 90Mpa (90 N/mm2). In the wake of energy conservation policy and diminishing supplies of high quality raw materials, there is a need to use marginal quality cements and aggregates for the production of concrete. In such instances the use of plasticizers/super plasticizers permits the production of concrete at low water/ cement ratios. We have taken ultra tech opc cement & coromandal ppc cement to find the compatibility by adding perma plast (plasticizer). The water cement ratio was maintained as 0.40 &0.45 for OPC & PPC respectively. To study the effect of these PP on various properties of concrete. The dosage of plasticizers/super plasticizers was measured as 1.5% for Perma plast for OPC & 1.3% for PPC by the weight of cement.

Mix Design
The proportioning of constituent materials in a concrete mix
is a complicated matter which can be influenced by many factors. We recommend that trials be
conducted with the available materials, to ascertain optimum cement contents for specific classes
of concrete. For further guidance on this issue please refer to AS1379 – The specification and
manufacture of concrete and AS3600 – Concrete structures.
Concrete Properties
2. Compressive Strength Development
Strength development in Portland www.cementaustralia.com.au concrete is affected by a number
of factors such as the physical and chemical properties of the cement, water to cement ratio,
admixtures, curing and environmental conditions.
Compatibilities
General Purpose Cement is compatible with:
• Admixtures that comply with AS 1478 – Chemical Admixtures for Concrete
• Fly ashes complying with AS 3582.1 – Supplementary Cementitious Materials for Use with
Portland cement: Fly ash
• Ground granulated blast furnace slags complying with
AS3582.2 - Supplementary cementitious materials for use with Portland cement: Slag - ground
granulated Iron blast-furnace

Portland cement: Amorphous silica
• Other cements complying with AS3972 - Portland and blended cements.
Caution: Type GP Cement must not be mixed with high alumina cement as this may result in
uncontrollable expansion and setting times.
Curing
A minimum curing period of seven days is recommended for
all exposure classifications. Concrete should be maintained in
a continually moist condition wherever practical during this
time. Water sprays, wet sand or moisture retaining techniques, such as clear polyethylene sheets
or curing compounds are recommended. Curing should begin upon the completion of surface
finishing or in accordance with manufacturers instructions where proprietary curing
compounds are used.
For normal class concrete, curing can produce a compressive strength up to 100% greater than
concrete not subjected to curing. Water application or moisture retaining curing is more effective
for lower grades of concrete. Curing will also beneficially affect other concrete properties
including:
• Reduction in the potential for plastic cracking.
• Improvements in surface quality, durability and
impermeability.
• Improvement in abrasion resistance.
• Reduction in the carbonation rate.
Mortar/Render Mix Proportions
3. General Purpose Cement is suitable for use in brick mortars
and wall renders.
Admixtures such as air entrainers, thickening agents or plasticisers can be used but should
always be used in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.
