Castilleja de la Cuesta is a small town located 6km from Seville, Spain with a population of around 19,000. Most residents work in the nearby city of Seville. The town has some small food factories, hotels, and an old palace where the conqueror Hernán Cortés died. The CEIP Luis Cernuda School is the primary school located in Castilleja de la Cuesta, which aims to educate students not just academically but also teach them to live and share with others in society.

Hernán Cortés died in this town on December 2, 1547. He is not buried there however, because his remains were returned to Mexico as directed in his will. They currently rest in the "Templo de Jesús" which is part of the Hospital de JesúsNazareno in Mexico City. It was the birthplace of actor and dancer Eduardo Cansino, Sr., the father of Rita Hayworth, as well as Charlton Athletic footballer Miguel ÁngelLlera. Castilleja de la Cuesta is the place of production of the "Tortas de Aceite de Ines Rosales." These are some waffle-thin "tortas" made with olive oil and having a hint of anis. 2. Our town “Castilleja de la Cuesta” Castilleja is a small town situated 6km far from Seville a big town in the South of Spain. It has a population of about 19.000 inhabitants.Most of the inhabitants work in the city of Seville. The people in our town is dedicated to de servises as shopping center (IKEA), and there are many shops. We have some small cakes and sweets factories, hotels and an old palace in which Pizarro the conqueror died, today is a private catholic school.
