The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will issue a new Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) Multi-Sector Stormwater General Permit before the current permit expires on August 14, 2016. Over 8,000 facilities in Texas are currently covered under the expiring permit. Facilities will need to update their Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans and file a Notice of Intent for coverage under the new permit by 90 days after the effective date. The new permit is expected to include tighter monitoring values, clarified schedules, and additional regulatory requirements. Facilities should review the draft permit, update plans and compliance records, and consider applying for a No Exposure Certification if applicable.
