This is a painting titled "Castle Hill Light" that measures 32 by 28 inches and was created using acrylic paint on canvas. It depicts the scenic view of Castle Hill in Newport, Rhode Island and was painted by artist John F. Burk in 2009.
“At the front of the inn, I found a long slope of clipped lawn filled with
dozens of arrangements of Adirondack chairs facing the sea. All
sturdily-built and brightly painted in the warm afternoon sun, somehow I managed to not sit in a single one of them. What was I thinking?”
“This place sits glimmering on a hill overlooking the ocean, its lawn sloping to the edge of the cliffs, crowded with groupings of Adirondack Chairs (\'The Castle Hill Sunshine Club\'). Everything welcomes, promising a moment, an afternoon, and evening, or an early morning you won\'t soon forget, all in sight of the changing sea. Even the sun seems to enjoy it here.”
A short talk on my book The Pirate's Dilemma, which looks at how youth culture can gives clues about new ways to share information, and why competing with pirates is often better than fighting them.

“I discovered this scene a moment before the birds discovered each other. The egret seemed to be the only one showing any particular alarm. I\'m happy to say a moment later it was business as usual for all three. Four, counting me.”
“It was a gray morning with flat light on the sea end of Ledge Road. This did not bode well for the day. Everything looked drab. This particular arrangement of rock, though, presented interesting forms and patterns in spite of the light, almost as if quarried. Well, says I to myself, this is a
seacoast day as common as any, and I am all about capturing the seacoast at this moment. So capture it I did, and then did a little rock climbing. Not so long after, the sun came out in all its glory.”
“At Goose Neck Cove, I found the tide rising and an anchorage of fishing boats. These two lobster boats, at the same mooring, nothing about them particularly \'Bristol fashion\'. Lines everywhere. (I know a little about these things.) However, the larger of the two has the livery of the 1st Cavalry, US Army on the bows. One thing I surmise about the owner of these boats is he\'s one serious fisherman.”
