IPsmarxdevelopedaVoIPCallbacksystemforSalim,onethathecouldsetupanywhereintheworldwithouthavingto
leavehishome,thatwouldhandleoutgoinglongdistancecallsaslow-rateincomingVoIPcalls.Tomakeacall,hiscustom-
ersinLebanondialintohissystemwithaU.S.accessnumberthroughtheirregularphoneline.Thesystemringsbut
doesn’tanswerthecall,sothereisnochargetothecustomer.Thesystemreadsthecustomer’scallerIDandthencalls
thembackattheirlocation;whentheyanswer,theysimplyentertheirPINandthedestinationnumbertheywanttocall
andthesystemconnectsthemoverIandthesystemconnectsthemoverIP.Thecallisrecordedasanincomingratherthananoutgoingcall,andcostsa
fractionofthePSTN’slongdistancefee.
HisserverandDIDproviderwereplacedinaU.S.co-location,ensuringthathissystemwasbackedbyasafe,reliableand
uptodatetelecommunicationsinfrastructureandthathislineswerealwaysstableandofhighquality.UsingLeast-Cost
Routing,hewasabletousemultiplecarriersandtakeadvantageofcompetitiveratesandhighlineavailability.Healso
hastheoptiontoexpandintootherareaswheneverhewantseitherbythesameset-uporbyinstallinggatewaysindesti-
nationlocationsandterminatinghisowntraffic.
IPsmarxcreatedseveralfeaturesforSalim.Hiscustomerscanlogontohiswebsiteandregistertheirhomenumber,sothe
systemwillrecognizeandauthenticatetheiraccountautomatically–noPINneeded.Amultiplesessionmodulemeansthat
customersdon’thavetodisconnectfromthesystemtomakeanothercall;ratherthanhangingupattheendofacallthey
simplypress‘pound’andenteranotherdestinationnumber.Alock-outpolicyblockscallersaftertenincorrectPINentries,
preventingsystemhacks.IPsmarxisalsodevelopingamulti-lingualIVRthatwillanalyzetheincomingnumberand
callbackusingpromptsintheappropriatelanguage.
