Using WordPress as a badge platform #openbadgesHEMartin Hawksey
The Association for Learning Technology has been experimenting with the open source blogging platform WordPress as an Open Badges issuing platform. As part of this presentation we include details of our journey from digital to open badges. As part of this we highlight some of the benefits of using WordPress and the free BadgeOS plugin as well as issues encountered integrating with Mozilla Backpack. As well as the technical aspect we will look at how badges were used in the Open Course for Technology Enhanced Learning (ocTEL). As part of this badges were awarded on a weekly basis for a range of tasks from simply ‘checking-in’ to completing predefined learning activities. Given the range of criteria this presentation explores the general question ‘do open badges count?’. The presentation concludes by looking at current developments which are informing how the Association might use Open Badges in the future. As part of this we will touch upon the potential other benefits of badges including situational awareness for learners and the wider community.

A recent conservative estimate indicated 88% of UK universities use Google Analytics on their main website. At the IWMW 2010 event Ranjit Sidhu highlighted the value of using Google Analytics data to justify the roles of web teams. One of the issues with Google Analytics data is it is often the domain administrator is the gatekeeper, selectively releasing the data in a controlled way can be a challenge and often the only option is all or nothing.
In this workshop delegates will learn how Google Sheets and Google Apps Script can be used to selectively extract data from Google Analytics making it possible to analyse using built-in Google Sheet tools like tables, charts and pivots, or selectively republished for use in other tools like R or InDesign. Additionally participants will also learn how using Google Sheets data can be combined with other datasets such as Twitter, providing near realtime insight to website traffic and interaction.

Voce incamera concert a capella solidari inca mallorca.Activa't Inca
Voce Incamera (Voce = veu; Inca = la nostra ciutat; camera = cambra) és un projecte musical ideat per pares i mares, apassionats per la música i àmpliament experimentats en aquest àmbit, però amb uns horaris personals i familiars que no podien adaptar-se al rigor dels assajos d’una coral. D’aquesta manera, decidiren unir esforços i compaginar la vida familiar amb l’afició musical.
Els assajos grupals de Voce Incamera van precedits d’un treball personal, a casa, cadascú al seu ritme. Quan ens juntam (amb els nins inclosos), el resultat és una harmoniosa conjunció musical, d’amistat i de treball, que alhora serveix per ensenyar als nostres fills el valor de la feina en equip.
El passat estiu de 2014 els esforços de mesos de preparació tengueren la recompensa del veredicte del jurat de la Vetlada de Cant Coral a Llubí dels VI Premis Sant Feliu, en què se’ns varen concedir quatre dels cinc premis del certamen: millor cançó obligatòria, millor cançó clàssica, millor cançó popular o tradicional lliure i millor coral.
Aquesta tardor, volem començar la temporada musical amb un acte solidari i que és al mateix temps una proposta innovadora: la didàctica musical a través d’un concert de cant coral.
Són diversos els motius que ens mouen a dur endavant aquesta iniciativa. En primer lloc, els infants: ja que som pares i mares, volem aportar el nostre petit gra d’arena al benestar dels nins i les nines amb capacitats especials i de les seves famílies. En segon lloc, volem apropar i fer comprendre la importància de la música a cappella i el repte que suposa interpretar aquest repertori. Finalment, volem animar el públic en general a endinsar-se en el magnífic món de la música coral, ple de bones sensacions sensorials, i a apreciar el valor de la música en viu, sobretot en l’era tecnològica en què vivim, on sembla que el software ho “arregla” tot.
La dinàmica del concert estarà dividida en dues parts. En la primera es farà un recorregut històric a partir de la música del Renaixement i s’hi interpretaran, d’una forma molt especial i participativa, obres de: Juan del Encina, Mozart, Orlando di Lasso, Tomás Luis de Victoria...
La segona part del concert estarà dedicada íntegrament a les obres contemporànies, de diversos estils (mbube, swing, son...) i països. Així doncs, s’interpretaran cançons de Sud-àfrica, Anglaterra, els Estats Units, Cuba, Perú... i, òbviament, del lloc que ens acull, Mallorca.
Esperam que els assistents gaudeixin de l’experiència tant com nosaltres.
1. Benvolguts pares i mares:
Com ja es va anunciar el curs passat, enguany els cants corals de l’escola de música canvien una
mica i s’enfoquen d’una manera diferent respecte el curs passat. Un d’aquest grups és:
Grup de cant coral pels de 3r i 4t de nivell elemental (l’alumnat que fa 5è i 6è de primària a
l’escola general):
Aquest grup de cant coral serà opcional per a tots aquells alumnes que els pugui interessar que
cursin 3r o 4t de nivell elemental. Es realitzarà els dimecres de 2/4 de 7 a 2/4 de 8 de la tarda a
l’Eugeni d’Ors a partir de l’octubre. El professor serà el Pol Berlinches.
El caràcter que se li vol donar és molt similar als grups de vent i de corda que ja té l’escola i que
pertànyer en aquest grup de cant coral sigui també una font d’oportunitats per a fer concerts
fora de l’escola, activitats lúdiques al voltant de la música, participació en les grans activitats
extraordinàries del centre com els viatges i participar de la vida cultural de Valls. Enguany està
previst fer un viatge fora de Catalunya els dies 1, 2 i 3 de maig que us n’informarem detalladament
d’aquí a molt poc i que estarà obert als cantaires d’aquest cant coral.
És molt interessant per a tots aquells que feu piano poder-hi participar ja que és l’únic grup de
música del qual podeu gaudir a l’escola.
Us animem a tots a participar-hi! La primera classe serà el dimecres 3 d’octubre.
