A sprinkler head activated in the roof of a school in Bridgend, Wales, saturating approximately 20 square meters of insulation and 350 square meters of the ground floor. Rainbow Restoration was called in to remove the wet insulation and damaged ceiling tiles to prevent further damage. They lifted and disposed of all soaked carpets and flooring before installing a drying system. Rainbow worked with builders to restore the school so students could return as soon as possible, minimizing disruption to their education.

When a school in Bridgend suffered an escape of water
when a sprinkler head in the roof space activated, the pupil’s
continuity was under threat.
Water saturated approximately 20sqm area of roof space
rockwool insulation, passing through suspended ceiling into
rooms below. Approximately 350sqm of the ground floor was
affected by water, affecting carpets, vinyl flooring, contents
within the class rooms and the building structure.
The whole ground floor was badly contaminated but the local
Rainbow office acted fast and removed the rockwool insulation to
prevent secondary damage, along with affected suspended ceiling
tiles.
Due to the severity of saturation to sub-floor Rainbow uplifted and
disposed of all carpets and vinyl floor coverings beyond economic
repair, installed a target drying regime, removed contents for disposal
or restoration, removed an adhesive layer on the flooring to expose the
sub floor.
Builders were also involved and Rainbow worked alongside builders
to restore the school to pre-incident condition and as quick as possible,
to get the pupils back into their school.
Upon Rainbow completing drying and the builders completing their
re-instatement works, all restored contents were returned to the school.
