CANDELILLA REAL
Candelilla wax is obtained from the wild Euphorbia Cerifera plant, which belongs to the
Euphorbiaceous family.The plant grows in semi-desert climate areas and particularly in the region
known as “El Desierto de Chihuahua” (Chihuhuan Desert) located in the north of México and south of
USA.
In order to protect itself from the adverse weather conditions and to help retain water, the Candelilla
plant creates a grayish powder to cover its surface. The powder created is mostly comprised of wax.
Most of the elements of Candelilla wax are components that can be found naturally in vegetables and
fruits. Its chemical composition is characterized by a high content of hydrocarbons and a low quantity
of volatile esters. Its resin content can reach up to 9% in weight, which favors its adhesion properties.
Candelilla wax is recognized as a safe natural substance by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA)
and GRAS for its use in food industry.
Candelilla REAL®
is a product line based on Candelilla wax. These products are developed and
