3. What Is Canada Express Entry?
Canada runs various economic immigration programs throughout the year to
invite foreign skilled talent to migrate and settle in Canada. So Citizenship and
Immigration Canada (CIC) has introduced a new electronic system to
effectively manage PR applications received through these immigration
programs, this new electronic system is called Express Entry.
Current immigration programs run by CIC are:
•The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
•The Federal Skilled Trades Program
•The Canadian Experience Class
•A portion of the Provincial Nominee Program

5. Who Can Apply?
There is no limit to the number of people who can submit their
profile under the scheme. Skilled workers from various Skills,
Experience, and professional backgrounds can submit their profiles
in the pool.
Note: There’s no cap on Cooks and Managers
6. Requirements for Canada Express Entry
Canada Express Entry requirements are no different from other
economic immigration programs:
•Age
•English language proficiency
•Work experience (in and outside Canada)
•Educational qualification,
•An offer from a Canadian employer (Not Mandatory)
A Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) will assess candidate’s profiles
and rank them considering the above criteria.
7. Details of Points-Based System
A total of 1,200 points will be allotted in the Express Entry program to
those who have already qualify under any of the Economic Immigration
Programs (as listed in slide 1).
There won’t be any minimum point requirement, but only the ones
who score the highest will be offered permanent residency to Canada:
The points will be allotted as follows:
•A maximum of 500 points for human capital factors like age,
education, experience, and language will be awarded; 40 points will
come from if an applicant has an accompanying spouse or common-law
partner, and up to 80 points if the candidate holds at least one year of
experience in Canada
8. Details of Points-Based System
• Transferrable skills will add another 100 points. Skills that can be
used across different jobs and industries in technical and non-
technical areas are usually referred to as transferrable skills
• 600 points will be awarded if the applicant has a job offer in Canada
or have received nomination certificate from any of Canadian
provinces. Applicants can use Canadian Job Bank to Apply for the
jobs in Canada.
9. Importance of Job Bank
The newly introduced Canadian Job Bank connects the employers from
Canada and skilled professionals from the world. It is an online portal
launched by the Government of Canada.
On one hand, Canadian employers can list job postings on the website
from across the country and can shortlist applications that meet their
business requirements. On the other, Skilled workers from within
Canada and outside can apply for jobs directly through this portal.
Skilled professionals can complete their profile and apply for jobs in
their preferred location in Canada as per their skills and experience.
10. Processing Times
Upon receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA), candidates have to submit
a duly filled PR application to the CIC. The processing time for such
applications will be 6 months or less from the date CIC receives it.
