The closing ceremony of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics began by lighting the part of the cauldron that failed to light at the opening ceremony. The ceremony featured Canadian stereotypes performed comically and the audience wore moose antler hats. The IOC president called the games excellent and friendly and praised the Canadian organizers. Vancouver's organizing committee head received loud cheers for Canada's gold medal in hockey and said the games lifted Canadian morale beyond expectations. The flag was handed to organizers of the 2014 Sochi games, who invited the world to Russia.
