Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet, is a public art exhibition designed to raise awareness of solutions to climate change. Cool Globes grew out of a commitment at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2005, and was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2006. Since that time, Cool Globes premiered in Chicago and went on tour across the country from Washington DC to San Francisco, San Diego, Sundance, Los Angeles, Houston and Cleveland. In the fall of 2009, Cool Globes opened the first international exhibit in Copenhagen. From there our globes were in Geneva, Marseille, Vancouver, and Amsterdam. It is our hope that the millions of people who have experienced the exhibit, leave with a vast array of solutions to climate change, and with one clear message….we can solve this.
This presentation covers what it is and why it's important, plus things to do and how to get involved for both, Worl Water Day and Earth Hour.
Brief: World Water Day is an annual UN observance day that highlights the importance of freshwater. The day is used to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Earth hour is an event held annually encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights, for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on a specific day.

The Environmental Impact of Paper Coffee CupsMatt Moneypenny
It's no secret that many American companies thrive on their morning cup of coffee. In fact, it can be said that the general population of America is obsessed with coffee since we consume around 400 million cups of the stuff per day. With that cup of coffee, you require a physical cup and likely a lid, which are more than likely made of both paper and plastic materials. For one person, it may not seem like this cup of coffee is harmful to the environment but if all 146 billion cups of consumed coffee used disposable paper and plastic containers, it would have a huge negative impact on the environment.
The Go Green Initiative is the global leader in environmental education. The program is FREE to all schools, and offers a comprehensive approach to creating a "culture of conservation" on campus.

The Global Greening Project and future organization was founded many years ago as the main project of the Greening Deserts and Trillion Trees Initiative. The founder published many articles, innovative ideas and papers about the regreening and reforestation movement. GlobalGreening.org is and will be the main platform in the future, also for the development organization. The project is linked to Greening Deserts developments such as the global Greening Camps. It has long been a private initiative as part of the Trillion Trees Project. The Global Greening Institution wants to build an additional platform for Southern Europe and Africa, including the Drought Research Institute with its online platform DroughtResearch.com.

Saving the environment requires a collective effort from all of us, as every small action counts in preserving our planet for future generations. Here's a description of how we can save the environment:
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Embrace the three Rs in your daily life. Reduce your consumption of single-use items, opt for reusable alternatives, and actively participate in recycling programs to minimize waste and its impact on the environment.
Conserve Energy: Be mindful of your energy usage at home and work. Turn off lights, appliances, and electronics when not in use. Invest in energy-efficient appliances and use natural lighting whenever possible.
Promote Sustainable Transportation: Opt for walking, cycling, carpooling, or public transportation instead of using individual vehicles. By reducing carbon emissions from transportation, we can help combat air pollution and climate change.
Support Renewable Energy: Advocate for and support the transition to renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. Renewable energy is clean and sustainable, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
Preserve Water Resources: Conserve water by fixing leaks, using water-saving fixtures, and being mindful of water consumption. Support efforts to protect and preserve clean water sources and habitats for aquatic life.
Plant Trees and Restore Ecosystems: Participate in tree-planting initiatives and restoration projects to enhance biodiversity and combat deforestation. Trees play a vital role in absorbing carbon dioxide and providing habitats for wildlife.
Raise Awareness and Advocate: Educate others about the importance of environmental conservation and the impact of human activities on the planet. Support and advocate for policies and initiatives that prioritize environmental protection and sustainability.
Choose Sustainable Products: Opt for products with eco-friendly certifications, minimal packaging, and made from recycled materials. By supporting sustainable products, we encourage responsible production and reduce environmental harm.
The relationship between humanity and the environment is a delicate balance. Since the industrial revolution, the world's population has increased exponentially, and with the population growth, the environment has been profoundly affected. Deforestation, pollution and global climate changes are amongst the adverse effects the population and technological expansion has introduced. Included in this category are both subjects dealing with attempts to reduce the negative impact on the environment, and subjects which aim to gain a greater understanding of the environment itself.
Trees are nature's gift for human beings. Planting a tree is a symbol of a looking-forward kind of action; looking forward, yet not too distantly said World-famous forester, Richard St. Barbe Baker..

Campus Crest is committed to continually
improving the way we design and construct our
buildings for optimal health, comfort, efficiency,
and safety. In 2012, we completed a redesign
of our prototype building (to be implemented
on 2013 construction starts) to align with LEED
and ENERGY STAR. We also installed solar
at select properties across our portfolio with
more in the pipeline.
Campus Crest and Solar City Team Up by Ted RollinsTed Rollins
Ted Rollins and Campus Crest Communities, today announced a partnership with SolarCity, a national leader in clean energy products and services, to install more than 9,000 solar panels on its student housing communities located in Greeley, Colorado; Flagstaff, Arizona; and Las Cruces, New Mexico. When complete, the initiative will:
Provide more than 2.3 million kilowatt-hours of renewable power annually
Offset electricity consumption by approximately 50 percent
Eliminate over 80 million pounds of annual carbon dioxide emissions, the equivalent of taking approximately 7,000 cars off the road for a year.
1. Dirty Hands for a Clean Planet
This Arbor Day, plant some good that keeps on growing.
Grove(grōv) n. 1. A small wood or group of trees for providing shade, forming avenues, etc
2. A small, natural wood or stand of trees lacking dense undergrowth
3. A group of trees planted and cultivated for the production of fruit or nuts
4. A small urban forest
Hello Grove Nation!
As part of our nation-wide Grove Green Project, we’ll be kicking off our very own Urban Reforestation
Program this Arbor Day! We’re thrilled to invite you to change the planet with us. On Arbor Day, Earth
lovers across the country plant trees to honor the work forests do for us all over the planet—converting
carbon dioxide back into oxygen for us. This Arbor Day, The Grove will go one better. We’re not just
going to plant trees. We’re going to start cultivating our very own urban forests.
What is an urban forest?
Urban Forest(ûr‘ bәnfôr‘ әst)n. Dynamic ecosystems that provide environmental services such as clean
air and water; cool cities and save energy; improve air quality; strengthen quality of place and local
economies; reduce storm water runoff; improve social connections; complement smart growth; and
create walkable communities.
While we don’t have vast tracts of land to restore, we can improve the green spaces right outside our
front doors. Our spaces are perfect for cultivating our urban forests. Trees purify our air and water, cool
our cities, save energy, create animal habitats, and beautify urban environments. If we want our planet
to thrive, we need to cultivate our trees. And now, the trees need you.
Over the next year, we’ll add one plant for every Grove resident to our urban forests across the nation.
We’ll be bringing in the first stage plantings for our Urban Forest on April 24, 2012. Shovels and
refreshments will be provided. Join us in welcoming our new additions and helping them get settled in.
Big change starts with small choices. What will you do to make the world better this Arbor Day?
