Camels have several adaptations that allow them to survive in hot, sandy desert environments. They have long eyelashes to prevent sand from entering their eyes, splayed feet that spread their weight to avoid sinking in sand, and can go up to seven days without drinking water by storing it in their stomachs. Unlike humans, camels do not need to drink hourly and can avoid sweating through their tall, thin legs which dissipate heat instead of sweating.
