It notes that storms can come unexpectedly in life, like problems rising up suddenly. The disciples were afraid during the storm in the story, but Jesus remained calm and asleep, depicting how Christians should react to problems - making efforts to solve them but also praying and having faith that God is in control. Having faith means being sure of what we hope for even if we can't see it and knowing that no storm is too strong for God to handle. The document encourages having faith like Jesus during life's storms rather than giving in to fear.

It emphasizes that both slaves and masters serve the same heavenly master and will be judged equally by God. Overall, the document explores what it means for Christians to be slaves or servants both spiritually and in earthly social relationships.
EVANGELISM 101: Lesson 1 - Biblical Foundations of EvangelismFrancis Hernandez
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” (Romans 10:13-15)
"It (Evangelism) comes from the same Greek word for gospel (euangelion) and means, literally, “gospeling.” When we evangelize we are “gospeling” — we are spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ." - https://www.ligonier.org/learn/devotionals/what-evangelism/
Every Christian is called to do the divine task of evangelism. Evangelism is a task not just for the select churches, or for the evangelists or pastors. This is Lesson 1 of EVANGELISM 101 Series. Given last April 23, 2021 at HOPE Christian Fellowship in Guinobatan, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines by Ptr. Francis S. Hernandez.

The document provides an overview of a discipleship manual that presents the Christian life as a jigsaw puzzle with different biblical truths as puzzle pieces. It outlines key aspects of the Christian life including salvation, judgment, the cross, sanctification, and the goal of spiritual growth. The manual aims to help Christians live out what they have learned about God in a practical way.
This document provides background information on the church in Ephesus that was addressed in Revelation 2:1-7. It summarizes that Ephesus was an early, apostolic church that was commended for its works, patience, and rejection of false teachings. However, Christ criticized it for losing its first love for Him and becoming too focused on routines and programs. It was warned to repent and return to serving out of love for Christ or else He would remove its pastor and blessing. The church is used as an example of what can happen when outward works are not matched with inward devotion to Christ.
May 24.2015 THE TIME OF TESTING IS THE TIME OF BLESSING - Sunday Message b...Catherine Lirio
This document discusses how God uses tests to strengthen believers' faith and obedience. It provides several Bible verses that portray tests as a way for God to humble people, prove their love and fear of Him, and know what is in their hearts. Tests are meant to produce endurance, maturity, and blessing for those who endure and obey God through them. While challenging, tests from God should be viewed as gifts to strengthen faith rather than causes for fear or discouragement. Having strong faith, prayer, and purpose can help people withstand tests and be "tested and approved."
[Romans8:12-17; Ephesians 5:15-21] — Clearly the Bible teaches that the Holy Spiirit indwells, influences and leads the child of God. The question is how does the Bible, (the Holy Spirit’s revelation) tell us He does it. — AUDIO PART 1 / AUDIO PART 2 / PPT / KEYNOTE / PDF - 12/25/2016
This document discusses the power of words and provides biblical principles for their proper use. It notes that words can build up or tear down and urges refraining from hurtful, gossiping, untruthful or unclean language. Instead, it encourages using words to encourage, bless others, build up, and speak the truth. It emphasizes that transforming one's speech starts from the heart by focusing on others, looking for good, and thinking before speaking slowly to anger.
1. Noah found favor in God's eyes because he was righteous and walked with God, in contrast to the widespread wickedness and evil of others during that time.
2. To attract God's favor, one must have an intimate relationship with God through faith, manifest God's character as Noah did through integrity even when others were corrupt, and walk according to God's will as Noah tried to conduct his affairs according to God's will.
3. Walking with God through faith, righteousness, and obedience to His will allows one to gain God's approval and receive His divine kindness and blessings.
This document discusses principles of biblical discipleship, including that it should be intentional, impacting, personal, and Christlike. It then lists nine principles of biblical discipleship, such as being incarnational, reproductive, impartation, and demonstration. It concludes by addressing common questions disciple-makers may have and providing brief answers, such as contacting a disciple within 24 hours, meeting with them weekly if possible, and getting help if unable to answer a question.
Spiritual maturity is an important goal for believers to progress toward. It involves a desire to grow, nourishment through studying God's word regularly, and exercise through consistently applying biblical principles. Reaching maturity takes time and patience - believers should not expect to grow overnight or become discouraged by mistakes and rebukes along the journey. Maintaining hunger for righteousness, feeding daily on scripture, and regularly practicing faith are key steps to advancing toward spiritual maturity.

1) The document discusses evidence of salvation and the new life in Christ. It explains that salvation is by faith in Jesus alone, not good works, and discusses passages about eternal life.
2) It uses the metaphor of Jesus as the Good Shepherd to illustrate how He protects and cares for His sheep. Jesus promised that no one can snatch believers from His hand.
3) True believers will experience tangible changes like obedience to God, love for others, and renouncing ungodly living, as evidence of their transformed life in Christ. While not perfect, Christians will continue growing in Christlikeness.
This document discusses four key facts about Jesus that can be used to tell others about Him. 1) Jesus was fully human. He was born in history and had human experiences. 2) Jesus was more than a great teacher as He did miraculous things that only God can do and said things that only God can say. 3) Jesus overcame death by dying on the cross and rising from the tomb three days later, as witnessed by many. 4) Sharing one's own personal experience of how knowing Jesus has changed their life can help others understand who He is.
Rom 8:5-8 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Patience is a virtue that many of us need to work on. What is patience? What can I do to increase my patience? What are some consequences of not being patient? How does God give us patience? Hopefully this lesson will help you answer these questions. Audio: http://w65stchurchofchrist.org/Sermons/Audio_Sermons/2010_04_04_Lord_Give_Me_Patience_Now.mp3
Wholehearted acceptance that God is truly good can lead to spiritual maturity, abundant life, and protection from deception. It motivates giving oneself fully to God, developing a strong desire to know Him through obedience. Seeing God as good produces gratitude and thankfulness, strengthening one's relationship with Him. Doubting God's goodness rejects His salvation and implies wanting His gifts but not Him. The document examines biblical passages about God's good plans and will to argue that conviction in His goodness is key to faith.
1) The document discusses understanding God's grace and living by grace rather than performance. It argues Christians often revert to a performance-based walk due to failing to understand continuous grace.
2) It explains that grace is God's free and unmerited favor shown to sinners. Holiness is also a gift of grace, as God sees believers as perfectly holy in Christ.
3) The document emphasizes that believers possess holiness in Christ before God, and through His grace are sanctified daily as the Holy Spirit transforms them into Christ's likeness.
The document discusses having faith during difficult times based on the biblical story of Jesus calming the storm. It notes that storms can come unexpectedly in life, like problems rising up suddenly. The disciples were afraid during the storm in the story, but Jesus remained calm and asleep, depicting how Christians should react to problems - making efforts to solve them but also praying and having faith that God is in control. This document discusses the difference between living by grace versus living by performance. It argues that while good works are important, they should come from a place of responding to God's grace rather than trying to earn God's favor. The document outlines how we are all in need of God's grace due to our sinful nature. It was only by God's grace that we can be saved through faith in Jesus, not by our own works. If we enter God's kingdom by grace, we must live in it by grace as well. Our motivation should be God's love and grace for us, not trying to fulfill requirements to gain blessings. True spiritual works flow from walking in God's grace, not to earn it. All of God
God, in His infinite love and mercy, sent Jesus Christ to be sin for humanity so that through faith in Him we can be made righteous. Led by the Holy Spirit, we acknowledge our sin, repent, and exercise faith in Jesus as our Savior and Example. Through faith in Christ we are justified, adopted as God's children, and freed from sin's power. The Spirit renews our minds and writes God's law of love in our hearts, and we become partakers of the divine nature.
The path to a more sustainable world starts at the individual level. Individual actions make up society as a whole. If individuals live sustainably, the planet will prosper. The Bible provides guidance for individuals to live sustainably and make their way prosperous. It instructs people to meditate on God's word day and night so they may observe to do what is written. For those who accept God's gift of salvation through Jesus, the spiritual debt of sin has been paid in full. However, people still incur debts from their treatment of the planet and others. The Bible calls on Christians to do their best to care for creation with the knowledge they have. Righteous nations that lead people in God's path will have a healthy, prosperous
This is a study of Jesus as a marriage and sex counselor. He taught on divorce and sexual union, and adultery. This is the Biblical basis for Christian views.
God’s goal is not merely that you escape corruption, but that you share in His nature. God has provided everything we need, but that does not erase our need for diligence.
The document discusses ten key Christian doctrines: God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Bible, salvation, Christian living, the church, family, the spirit world, and the future. It provides questions and answers about the nature and significance of each doctrine. For example, it explains that Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man, that he died on the cross to atone for humanity's sins, and that he ascended to heaven and will return again. The document aims to outline foundational theological beliefs and their importance.
Martin Luther argues that Christians can have assurance of their salvation based on three grounds: 1) The promises of Scripture that those who trust in Christ alone are saved. 2) The sanctifying work of the Spirit seen in the lives of believers. 3) The witness of the Spirit causing believers to cry "Abba, Father." Luther says this cry, though small, expresses the believer's knowledge that they are God's child through Christ. He urges believers to train their conscience to believe that God approves of them, despite doubts, based on Christ's righteousness.
Introduction to sync discipleship 7 22_18Mark Pomeroy

It provides biblical support for giving 10% of one's income to their church or place of spiritual connection. Common questions around how much to give, when, and to whom are addressed. Giving generously is encouraged as it benefits the church community and reflects God's generosity.
John writes a letter to a church and "the chosen lady and her children" whom he loves. He greets them with a blessing of grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Jesus Christ. He encourages them to walk in truth and love according to God's commandments. John warns of deceivers who do not acknowledge Jesus, and instructs the readers not to welcome or assist those who do not bring the true teaching.
This is a study of Jesus being frustrated. He was so disappointed in the lack of faith He saw in His disciples and all of the other doubters. All of His miracles still had not produced an adequate faith in them to believe He could heal any problem.
David Clayton teaches a class on 2 Corinthians 1:12-2:04. The class focuses on what Paul boasts about, including his clear conscience, reliance on God's wisdom and grace, consistent message of Christ, and handling of accusations against him. Students are encouraged to reflect on how others see them, their communication style, flexibility in plans while avoiding fickleness, believing in God's promises, and finding courage when facing criticism from multiple sides.

Editor's Notes
This is found in the first paragraph of page 17, at the beginning of the book. Reflect on the fact that the whole of Christianity hinges on the fact that Christ took on human form, laid aside divinity and became a man just like us. He did this that we can have no temptation that He has not been through, and that He would have no advantage over us in overcoming sin, yet He was perfect in all He did. So we too may be if we will but look to our heavenly Father and out of love for Him put our will on His side, asking the Holy Spirit to aid us. We can be overcomers.
It is every Christian’s privilege to not only look for but to hasten the soon coming of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ by bearing fruit to His glory. Then He would soon return to claim us as the fields would be sown.
The fact that men are in the Church does not make them Christians.
So the grace of God must be received by the sinner before he can be fitted for the kingdom of glory.
No mere external change is sufficient to bring us into harmony with God. There are many who try to reform by correcting this or that bad habit, and they hope in this way to become good Christians, but they are beginning in the wrong place. Our first work is with the heart.
True obedience is the OUTWORKING of a principle from within. It springs from the love of righteousness, the love of the law of God. The essence of all righteousness is loyalty to our Redeemer. This will lead us to do right because it is right – because right doing is pleasing to God.
Christ is honoured in excellence and perfection of character.
Our Salvation depends on a knowledge of the truth contained in the Scriptures. It is God’s will that we should possess this.

Disobedience has closed the door to a vast amount of knowledge that might have been gained from the Scriptures. Understanding means obedience to God’s commandments. The Scriptures are not to be adapted to meet the prejudice and jealousy of men!

If you search the Scriptures to vindicate your own opinions, you will never reach the truth. Search in order to learn what the Lord says. If conviction comes as you search, if you see that your cherished opinions are not in harmony with the truth, do not misinterpret the truth in order to suit your own belief, but accept the light given!!
Salvation is a free gift, and yet is to be bought and sold.
God calls for your willing obedience. He asks for you to give up your sins. To him that overcometh, Christ declares, I will grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne. Rev 3:21.
Almost Christians, yet not fully Christians, they seem near the kingdom of heaven, but they can not enter there.
Those who have put on Christ will relate their experience, tracing step by step the leadings of the Holy Spirit.
It is only as the old truths are understood that we can comprehend the new!
The law is the gospel embodied, and the gospel is the law unfolded. The law is the root, the gospel is the fragrant blossom and fruit which it bears

We are to ask blessings from God that we may communicate to others. The capacity for receiving is preserved only by imparting. We cannot continue to receive heavenly treasure without communicating to those around us.
We need to go to Christ with our difficulties and He will give us strength. “He longs to give you understanding in temporal as well as in spiritual matters. He can sharpen the intellect. He can give tact and skill. Put your talents into the work, ask God for wisdom, and it will be given you.” 146
Of all sins it is the most hopeless, the most incurable.
Those who accept the Saviour, however sincere there conversion, should never be taught to say or to feel that they are saved.
“ It is only he who knows himself to be a sinner that Christ can save.” “We must understand our danger, or we shall not flee to the refuge.” “We must know our real condition, or we shall not feel our need of Christ's help.” “We must feel the pain of our wounds, or we should not desire healing.”
It is only he who knows himself to be a sinner that Christ can save. We must know our real condition, or we shall not feel our need of Christ's help. We must understand our danger, or we shall not flee to the refuge. We must feel the pain of our wounds, or we should not desire healing.
No outward observances can take the place of simple faith and entire renunciation of self. It is not only at the beginning of the Christian life that this renunciation of self is to be made. At every advance step heavenward it is to be renewed.
Therefore there needs to be a continual reaching out of the heart after God, a continual, earnest, heartbreaking confession of sin and humbling of the soul before Him. Only by constant renunciation of self and dependence on Christ can we walk safely.
Those whom heaven recognizes as holy ones are the last to parade their own goodness.
It is to those whom the Lord has forgiven, to those whom He acknowledges as His people, that He says, "Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight." Eze. 36:31
Fear lest self shall interpose between your soul and the great Master Worker. Fear lest self-will shall mar the high purpose that through you God desires to accomplish. Fear to trust to your own strength, fear to withdraw your hand from the hand of Christ and attempt to walk life's pathway without His abiding presence.
It is Satan's work to flatter. He deals in flattery as well as in accusing and condemnation. Thus he seeks to work the ruin of the soul. Those who give praise to men are used by Satan as his agents. Let the workers for Christ direct every word of praise away from themselves. Let self be put out of sight. Christ alone is to be exalted.
The heart that has not fallen on the Rock is proud of its wholeness. Men want a dignified religion. They desire to walk in a path wide enough to take in their own attributes. Their self-love, their love of popularity and love of praise, exclude the Saviour from their hearts, and without Him there is gloom and sadness.
The laws and traditions of men are exalted above the law of God, and those who are true to God’s commandments suffer reproach and persecution.
There is by our side a witness, a heavenly messenger, who will lift up for us a standard against the enemy. He will shut us in with the bright beams of the Son of Righteousness. Beyond this satan cannot penetrate. He cannot pass this shield of holy light.
Often we enter the furnace of trial with our souls darkened with selfishness; but if patient under the crucial test, we shall come forth reflecting the divine character.
Often we enter the furnace of trial with our souls darkened with selfishness; but if patient under the crucial test, we shall come forth reflecting the divine character.
But there is a line beyond which they cannot pass. The time is near when they will have reached the prescribed limit. Even now they have almost exceeded the bounds of the long-suffering of God, the limits of His grace, the limits of His mercy. The Lord will interpose to vindicate His own honor, to deliver His people, and to repress the swellings of unrighteousness.
When you turn from those who seem unpromising and unattractive, do you realize that you are neglecting the souls for whom Christ is seeking? At the very time when you turn from them, they may be in the greatest need of your compassion.
The greater their sin and the deeper their misery, the more earnest and tender will be your efforts for their recovery. You will discern the need of those who are suffering, who have been sinning against God, and who are oppressed with a burden of guilt.
If the love of God is not appreciated and does not become an abiding principle to soften and subdue the soul, we are utterly lost. The Lord can give no greater manifestation of His love than He has given. If the love of Jesus does not subdue the heart, there are no means by which we can be reached. (COL 236)
Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. (Luke 17:3)
Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. (Luke 17:3)
We are not forgiven because we forgive but as we forgive.
Let the servants of Christ preach the gospel with the Spirit sent down from heaven, and work as He did for the benefit of men. Then such results will be manifest in the blessing and uplifting of mankind as are wholly impossible of accomplishment by human power.
If men waste their opportunities in self-pleasing, they cut themselves off from everlasting life. No after probation will be granted them. By their own choice they have fixed an impassable gulf between them and their God.
If they do not listen to the voice of God in His word, the testimony of a witness raised from the dead would not be heeded.
He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much; he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. (Luke 16:10)
Many today claim to obey the commandments of God, but they have not the love of God in their hearts to flow forth to others.
There is no such thing as a truly converted person living a helpless, useless life. Those who refuse to co-operate with God on earth would not co-operate with Him in heaven.
Through the wrong habits formed, Satan will assail you again and again.
Good works do not purchase the love of God, but they reveal that we possess that love.
God makes no requirement without making provision for the its fulfilment.
THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE CLOTHED WITH THE GARMENT OF HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS!
This will be the test of our character in the judgment.
The heavenly principles that distinguish those who are one with Christ from those who are one with the world have become almost indistinguishable. The professed followers of Christ are no longer a separate and peculiar people. The line of demarcation is indistinct. The people are subordinating themselves to the world, to its practices, its customs, its selfishness.
Christ’s followers have been redeemed for service.
He chooses His agents not because they are perfect but because, through a connection with Him, they may gain perfection. God will accept only those who are determined to aim high. He places every human agent under obligation to do his best. Moral perfection is required of all. Never should we lower the standard of righteousness in order to accommodate inherited or cultivated tendencies to wrong-doing.

Never should we lower the standard of righteousness in order to accommodate inherited or cultivated tendencies to wrong-doing.
Of every Christian the Lord requires growth in efficiency and capability in every line. Christ has paid us our wages, even His own blood and suffering, to secure our willing service.
It is formed by hard stern battles with self. Conflict after conflict must be waged AGAINST HEREDETARY TENDENCIES . We shall have to criticize ourselves closely, and allow NOT ONE UNFAVOURABLE TRAIT to remain uncorrected.
He is displeased with those who are too careless or too indolent to become efficient, well informed workers.
Even an ordinary mind, well disciplined, will accomplish more than the greatest talents without self control
Ephesians 4:15 PRESENTING THE TRUTH IN LOVE THAT ALL MAY GROW UP INTO HIM WHO IS THE HEAD, CHRIST
USE IT OR LOSE IT!
Not by beholding others and thinking that we are at least better than they are.
In order to accomplish this work we must follow His example of faithful, conscientious attention to little things. This is the secret of success in every line of christian effort and influence.
By rejecting it, we reject His instruction, and choose eternal separation from His presence.
The character of God is expressed in His law.
The smallest duty done in sincerity and self-forgetfulness is more pleasing to God than the greatest work when marred with self-seeking.
They have not yielded themselves to the Holy Spirits working. They have not fallen upon the Rock, Christ Jesus, and permitted their old nature to be broken up…….. Content with a superficial work. They do not know God. They have not studied His character; they have not held communion with Him; therefore they do not know how to trust, how to look and live…….. With their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after covetousness. (Eze 33:31)
