Christmas has been celebrated in England for over a thousand years and traditions include decorating with calendars, cards, music and trees. The traditional Christmas dinner is roast turkey with vegetables and sauces while mince pies made their way into festivities in the Middle Ages. Pulling Christmas crackers to reveal small gifts inside is also a common practice as is the jolly Father Christmas figure distributing toys from the North Pole. Decorating and present-giving make Christmas Eve and Day special occasions.

5.  Father Christmas is our version of Santa Claus. He
is an old jolly man with white hair, a long beard and a
moustache. He is dressed in a red suit outlined in
white.
 Father Christmas and his elves make all the toys for
Christmas in the North Pole.

6.  Christmas Eve (December 24) is traditionally the day
for decorating churches and homes.
 Christmas Day is the favorite day for children. They
wake up very early in the morning to find their
presents.
