Introduction
As we all know that today is 26-11-2020 which is celebrated as
Constitution Day or “Samvidhan Divas”. On this day the constituent
assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect
from 26th January 1950.
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 19th November 2015
notified the decision of Government of India to celebrate this day as
‘Constitution Day.’
What is a constitution?
A constitution is a set of fundamental principles or established precedents
according to which a state or other organization is governed.

Some facts about Constitution of India
The original copies of the Indian
Constitution, written in Hindi and
English, are kept in special helium-
filled cases in the Library of the
Parliament of India.
The original Constitution of India was
handwritten by Prem Behari Narain
Raizada in a flowing italic style with
beautiful calligraphy. The Constitution
was published in Dehradun and
photolithographed by the Survey of
India.
Indian Constitution is the Longest
Constitution in the world.
Our constitution has borrowed
provisions from the constitution of
various other countries. and thus, the
Indian constitution is also called "Bag
of Borrowings".

Abolition of states according to
classes and the introduction of Union
Territories and reorganization of
states by language (1956):
With 25 parts containing 448 articles
and 12 schedules, the Indian
Constitution is the longest written
Constitution of any sovereign
country in the world.
As originally enacted the preamble
described the state as a
"sovereign democratic republic", to
which the terms "Secular" and "Socialist"
were later added by the 42nd
Amendment.
The 42nd amendment in constitution is
also called as ‘mini constitution’.
The concept of five-year plan was taken
from the USSR and directive principles
were taken from Ireland.
Yr. 1976 - The mini-constitution (42nd
amendment) inserted Socialism and
Secularism in the preamble which is
called provision on fundamental.
Constitution (126th amendment) bill,
2019 introduced in Lok Sabha.
Year - 1978- Right to Property deleted
from the list of fundamental rights.
When the draft was prepared and put for
debate and discussion, over 2000
amendments were made, before it was
finalized.
