• BE RESPONSIBLE
(Galatians 6:4-5, Colossians 3:23-24, Ephesians 4:29-32)
• BE A HELPING HAND
(Hebrews 13:16, Philippians 2:4, Galatians 6:1-3)
• SUBMIT TO AUTHORITIES
(Mark 12:17, Roman 13:1-5)
BE RESPONSIBLE
• Bear Your Own Load(Galatians 6:4-5)
4 You should each judge your own
conduct. If it is good, then you can be
proud of what you yourself have done,
without having to compare it with what
someone else has done. 5 For each of you
have to carry your own load.
BE RESPONSIBLE
• Your Responsibility at Work (Col3:23-24)
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your
heart, as though you were working for the
Lord and not for people. 24 Remember that
the Lord will give you as a reward what he
has kept for his people. For Christ is the
real Master you serve.
BE RESPONSIBLE
• Don’t use your tounge for evil but rather for good
(Ephesians 4:29-32)
29 Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the
kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that
what you say will do good to those who hear you. 30 And
do not make God's Holy Spirit sad; for the Spirit is God's
mark of ownership on you, a guarantee that the Day will
come when God will set you free. 31 Get rid of all
bitterness, passion, and anger. No more shouting or
insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort. 32 Instead,
be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive
one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ.
BE A HELPING HAND
• Sharing Pleases God(Hebrews 13:16)
16 Do not forget to do good and to help one another,
because these are the sacrifices that please God.
• Looking on interest of others (Phil 2:4)
4 And look out for one another's interests, not just for your
own.
BE A HELPING HAND
• Bear one another’s burden((Gal 6:1-3)
6 My friends, if someone is caught in any kind of
wrongdoing, those of you who are spiritual should set
him right; but you must do it in a gentle way. And keep
an eye on yourselves, so that you will not be tempted,
too. 2 Help carry one another's burdens, and in this way
you will obey[a] the law of Christ. 3 If you think you are
something when you really are nothing, you are only
deceiving yourself.
SUBMIT TO AUTHORITIES
• We should honor and submit to those who
govern us (Mark 12:17)
Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the
things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things
that are God’s.” And they marveled at him.
SUBMIT TO AUTHORITIES
• Submission to Governing Authorities (Roman 13:1-5)
1 Everyone must obey state authorities, because no authority exists
without God's permission, and the existing authorities have been put
there by God. 2 Whoever opposes the existing authority opposes
what God has ordered; and anyone who does so will bring judgment
on himself. 3 For rulers are not to be feared by those who do good,
but by those who do evil. Would you like to be unafraid of those in
authority? Then do what is good, and they will praise you, 4 because
they are God's servants working for your own good. But if you do
evil, then be afraid of them, because their power to punish is real.
They are God's servants and carry out God's punishment on those
who do evil. 5 For this reason you must obey the authorities - not
just because of God's punishment, but also as a matter of
conscience.

    TO GOD BETHE GLORY

Editor's Notes

  • #4 BE RESPONSIBLE - Know your responsibilities and priorities instead of benefits. It has been a common problem to all of us, we often say, I am entitled to this, to that. The question is do we understand what are our responsibilities? What do we/you do to fulfil them?   Paul is telling the Christians in Galatia that we are all responsible for our own work and not our neighbors. Every one of us “will have to bear his (or her) own load.”  He isn’t talking about not helping anyone else because in a previous verse he writes that we are to “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ” (Gal 6:2) but he is writing these verses in the context of chapter 6 where we are to share what we have learned from others (Gal 6:6) but we must reap what we ourselves sow (Gal 6:8).  We are all going to be held accountable or responsible for our own actions or inactivity for that matter; for our sins of commission as well as our sins of omission.
  • #5 The Wisdom of Solomon tells us that “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might” (Eccles 9:10) because you are, as Paul tells the Colossians, “serving the Lord Christ” and not really man.  You are responsible for what you do at work and Christians can leave either a good witness or a bad example and shame the cause of Christ by doing shoddy work or slacking off on the job.
  • #6 Speech is one of the things that makes us different from the animal kingdom; animals do not speak yes they make notices liking barking or mooing but they do not communicate by speech to one another or to us. Therefore speech is such a wonderful gift we must not let any unwholesome talk come from our own mouths. The word that is translated 'unwholesome' is literally the word 'rotten.' It was used in the bible for rotten fruit or rotten trees and even rotten fish. We are not to let any rotten speech come out of our mouth anything that is dishonest, crude, vulgar, bad language, unfair criticism, pulling others down and anything else that will ultimately lead in hurting people. Our words are not to be destructive because words can be a very powerful medium every Christian must be careful that we use our words the right way. It is so easy to use our words to tear others down but it actually is much harder to use our words to encourage and to build others up
  • #7 BE A HELPING HAND - Everyone needs help at one time or another. Sometimes we can already sense that someone needs help, We may not directly hear it from them or they might not share their problems/worries to us but there are instances that we can sense that something is not right.   Sharing Pleases God(Hebrews 13:16) - The converse of this is true; if we fail to do good and do not share what we have we are neglecting others.  Sharing what you have are the types of personal sacrifices that are pleasing to God.  When the Scriptures talk about pleasing God then we know it must be important. Looking on interest of others (Philippians 2:4) - The interests of others ought to be our interests too.  Certainly we look out for ourselves but how can we turn a blind eye when others have needs.  There is a certain genius in generosity because God gives back what we let pass through our hands but if we hold tight with clinched fists what we have, God cannot pour more into hands that are already clinging tightly to what they hold.
  • #8 As long as any member of the body is broken, the whole body suffers. If the broken member of the body is amputated, the whole body suffers the loss. What is needed is restoration. The goal is the recovery of Christian brothers and sisters who have sinned so that the whole body will be healthy and productive again.
  • #9 A purpose of human government is to keep chaos from developing.
  • #10 Romans 13:1-2 is often greatly misunderstood.  Many Christians interpret this passage of Scripture to mean that we should offer unquestioning obedience to government, even if it's an evil and corrupt government.  This is simply not true.  Most people fail to consider verse 3, "For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil."  Clearly, God is speaking about GOOD government in Romans 13... because they are a terror to evil works, i.e., crimes.  But what happens when our government becomes a terror in itself, committing blatant heinous crimes before our very eyes?  The Word of God commands us to submit to HONEST government. There are limits to authority. A father has authority in his home, but does this give him power to abuse his wife and children? Of course not. An employer has authority on the job, but does this give him power to control the private lives of his employees? No. A pastor/priest has overseer authority in the church, but does this give him power to tell employers in his church how to run their businesses? Of course not.
