entitled Building Icons.
What is an architectural icon?
A structure that balances creativity, practicality and innovation, or a landmark interior that
echoes the voices of a bygone era which shaped a city. However defined, architectural icons are
timeless buildings with the power to move, challenge and inspire.
Since 1902, Turner has built environments that have profoundly affected not only New York
City’s skyline, but also its historical, social and economic fabric. From Lincoln Center and the
United Nations Secretariat to Madison Square Garden and the Hearst Tower, Turner
meticulously brings to life unique structures that evoke a deep sense of pride among all New
Yorkers.
Building Icons pays tribute to Turner’s definitive contribution to New York City’s silhouette by
showcasing recently completed projects - icons of architecture, engineering, technology and
style.
