The tuxedo jacket and its vest counterpart have become a staple in women’s wardrobes. This androgynous trend is used as a
layering piece or outerwear to complete a look. At Buenos Aires Fashion Week, ladies sporting this classic piece went for either
rock ’n’ roll sleek or grunge chic.
Bangles are one of the hottest trends of the season. An assortment of statement cuffs and bangles were stacked on wrists mixed
in a fun, unique way with different colors, sizes, textures and prints. Some were layered with charms. Many were seen in
brushed antique metals or beaded.
The white tee and jeans took on an airy sophisticated look, as women showcased various ways to wear them. Different style
jeans such as wide leg, skin tight, and high waisted all in soft shades of grey and crisp blues were paired with billowy blouses,
tight tanks or the basic tee.
Hippie fashion emerged in various looks, with many keeping it traditional in floral ruffled skirts to gypsy tunics and maxis with an
eclectic mix of accessories. Other styles added modern pieces with rocker edge such as Doc Martens and studded belts.
Fringe is still in fashion. This trendy tassel swayed mainly on hobo shaped leather and suede shoulder bags in soft brown and
cream tones. Tamer tassels embellished open toed sandals and boots mostly in black and a pop of blue.
Vintage inspired florals bloomed on below the knee length dresses, skirts and floor length maxis. Bright bouquets mainly in berry
tones and earthy grounds gave the feel of being back in grandma’s living room with many cottage chic and ‘70s inspired
patterns.
Everything big was the theme at B.A.F. Big watches, big accessories, big silhouettes, and no look was complete without a large
handbag. Oversized bags in soft leathers and minimal details were seen in satchel and duffel styles mostly in earth browns,
blacks, and pops of white.
Statement pendants were the icing on the accessory cake, with oversized trinkets dangling on leather and metal necklaces in
nature inspired forms such as birds and elephants. Tribal like influences played into the theme as well. Daintier styles displayed
vintage-like charms.
Relaxed silhouettes came in all forms with jodhpurs being the preferred choice. Cocoon and A-line shapes were seen in below
the knee tunics, mainly in lightweight fabrics such as jersey, soft cottons, and silks in pop and neutral palettes.
Women showed their “Joan Jett” side in true rocker style by mixing polished pieces or skin tight looks with looser fitting
silhouettes. In a palette of mainly black and white, edgy accessories such as lace tights, studded belts and studded boots
provided tough texture. Many had fun with this trend by wearing animated graphic tees or leggings or simply styling a leather
vest over a vintage maxi dress.
Massive watches were spotted everywhere at Buenos Aires Fashion Week. Gold plated watches with round dials were the
statements of choice, with some featuring dazzling crystal accents. Rectangular watch bracelets and faces were also well liked
by attendees.
