The school is introducing a new "Bucket Filling" character development program. The program teaches that people have invisible buckets that represent their feelings - when buckets are full they feel happy, and when empty they feel sad. Students can fill buckets by being kind, caring, and respectful, or dip from buckets by being mean or inconsiderate. The class created "Bucket Notes" where students anonymously write kind things about their peers, which are read each Friday to encourage positive behavior. Parents are asked to ask their children each day if they filled someone else's bucket to inspire participation in creating a kind classroom environment.
