2. Background
Barber re-creates music videos with a classic mood from previous era
hits. For example in OutKast’s video ‘Hey Ya!’ he referenced Greece
within this.
Barber is clear and distinct and able to voice a unique style which is
proven to be popular with artists he has worked with.
He can achieve a post-modern style which relies heavily on classic film
and TV such as the Greece reference.
With his talent, he was able to impart an original image to the hip-hop
movement.
It isn’t unknown that Barber spent $50,000 to create a presentation for a
job at 20th Century Fox directing ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’.
Barber didn’t get the job. However, was reimbursed the money he spent
because Fox were so impressed with his efforts.
Barber is currently working at Gigantor.

4. Typical Narratives and
Style
From the OutKast video’s I have watched produced by Bryan Barber, they
usually have an audience present as if it were a concert gig. This is a
good idea, however it may be difficult to gain an audience of that size for it
to work, but not impossible.
I noticed, that he keeps to the same genre of music through the different
artists he produces videos for. With the genres of R’n’B and Hip-Hop the
video’s have a certain soul feel for them and the audience can easily
connect. There is usually a simple storyline to follow, especially with the
OutKast videos. Whether that be a high-school love story (Roses) or a
headlining concert (Hey Ya!) the audience can gain a feel-good feeling
from the video which connect with the song.
