Tom Brady (12, above), made his first start at Gillette Stadium in nine months Sunday after being suspended for the first four games of the season. Brady threw three touchdown passes, includ-
ing one to All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski (87), below), in a 35-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Brady was 29-for-35 for 376 yards for the first-place Patriots.

FOXBORO — Tom Brady
had a smooth regular-season
home debut.
Playing his first game in
Foxboro since the end of his
“Deflategate” suspension,
Brady had three touchdown
passes and went over 5,000
completions for his career , and
the Patriots beat the Cincinnati
Bengals 35-17 on Sunday.
Brady finished 29 for 35 for
376 yards. Tight end Rob
Gronkowski had seven recep-
tions for a career-high 162
yards and a touchdown.
“I think I know how to get to
that place where I need to be,”
Brady said. “You only have so
much energy, and at some point
you gotta cut it loose when the
moment's right.”
Cincinnati dropped to 2-4
for the first time since 2010,
when it finished 4-12 — its
worst season under coach
Marvin Lewis.
The Bengals had their
moments offensively, scoring
on a 2-yard touchdown run by
Andy Dalton and 5-yard pass
from Dalton to Brandon LaFell.
Dalton finished 21 of 31 for 254
yards.
But New England (5-1)
bounced back from some slug-
gish drives early with several
big plays in the third quarter.
The Bengals scored on their
first drive after halftime to
briefly take a 14-10 lead. The
Patriots swiftly responded with
a safety and a pair of touch-
down passes by Brady —first to
Gronkowski, then to James
White — to put the Patriots
back in front.
Cincinnati has lost in its past
six trips to New England. It has-
n't won in Foxborough since
1986.

FOXBORO — Beyoncé played at Gillette
Stadium in June. Guns N' Roses was here in July.
Kenny Chesney performed on the Patriots' field in
August, and Bruce Springsteen sang in September.
Everyone from Lionel Messi to Jacoby Brissett
played at the home of the four-time Super Bowl
champions over the past nine months.
Everyone, that is, except Tom Brady.
Taking the Foxboro field for the first time since
last season's playoffs and a full 21 months after he
was sucked into the scandal known as
“Deflategate,” Brady returned home to lead New
England to a 35-17 victory over the Cincinnati
Bengals on Sunday. The victory left the Patriots (5-
1) tied with unbeaten Minnesota for most wins in the
NFL and two games ahead of Buffalo in the AFC
East.

COVENTRY – Shea High may have
started slowly, but it picked up steam
rather quickly in a 42-6 rout of Division
II-B host Coventry on Friday night.
Senior captain Yanique Duarte proved
to be his usual versatile self, scoring on a
10-yard rush, 55-yard interception return
and a 53-yard punt return.
Duarte initiated the scoring with that
10-yard jaunt following a scoreless first
quarter, and Leonardo DeBrito, whom
head coach Dino Campopiano deems one
of the best kickers in the state regardless
of division, booted the extra point for the
7-0 lead.
Teammate Richard Dunbar followed
with a seven-yard scamper, but the Knotty
Oakers sliced the deficit to 14-6 on Nick
D’Ambra’s two-yard plunge. The two-
point conversion rush failed, however.
DeBrito started the third with an 11-
yard TD reception from quarterback
Tyreek Rodrigues, and Duarte catapulted
the Raiders to the 28-6 advantage with his
return of a pick.
Dom Navarro later hustled 51 yards for
the TD before Duarte’s last punt return.
All told, SHS registered 14 points each
in the final three periods to remain unde-
feated at 4-0 in league play (5-0 overall).
Coventry fell to 1-4 in II-B.
Shea remains one of just two teams left in
Division II that is undefeated. Reigning
Division II champion Moses Brown has also
won all of its contests.
