An elementary school teacher created an activity for Black History Month where she told students with blue eyes they were smarter and better, giving them special treatment, while making students with brown eyes feel unimportant. The next day she reversed it, praising brown eyes over blue. This allowed students to experience discrimination firsthand and better understand its impact, making them less likely to discriminate against others in the future based on attributes like skin color or religion. The teacher helped the students grasp discrimination through direct experience of being on both sides.
