The Board of Registered Nursing voted to increase nurse licensing fees as required by a 2017 law. The fee increases, which take effect on April 5, 2018, will allow the board to invest in additional resources to improve customer service, community outreach, and consumer protection. A prior audit found the board had not been collecting enough fees to support its operations and increased enforcement efforts. The new fees are expected to generate $23 million annually to fund licensing renewals, administrative support, and other key board functions.
