Amphibians includes smooth newt, great crested newt ,
palmate newt, natter jack toad and pool frog.
Reptiles includes grass snake, smooth snake, sand lizards ,
viviparous lizards , leatherback turtles
Mammals includes hedgehog , Shrews , rodents and red fox.
Great Britain have forty species of native freshwater fish of
which the largest is the salmon .

Olive brown or green in color, the underside is yellowish or
white in color.
Have glandular skins.
Their slender body help them to swim.
The small toes help them to hold objects.
8. Leatherback Turtles
Their adaptations include large body size, change in swim
activity and blood flow and thick layer of fat help themselves
to maintain warm body temperature in cold water.
Their leathery carapace help them to glide.
9. Hedgehog
Have a coat of stiff and sharp spines, that protect themselves
from the predators.
They sleep during the day and awaken at night to search food.
Hibernate during winter season.

Small mammals with cylindrical bodies.
They have small eyes and large rounded ears.
The northern shrews have venom in their saliva that help them
kill large prey .

15. Red Deer
A male red deer is called a stag or hart, and a female is
called a hind.
Red deer are ruminants , characterized by a four-
chambered stomach.
They have a reddish-brown coat, which changes to a
brownish-grey in winter

Instantly recognizable by its white head with conspicuous dark
stripes through the eyes.
Have short but thick necks with wedge shaped body.
They cause little damage to agricultural crops.
17. Irish Hare
Also known as tundra hare, white hare and snow hare, that
is largely adapted mountainous habitats.
High developed senses of hearing and smell.
In summer, the coat is various shades of brown. In winter
most molt into a white. The tail remains completely white all
year round.

They are mainly active at night .
They have small, rounded, highly sensitive ears and sharp teeth
adapted for eating small mammals, birds, insects and frogs.
European pine martens are territorial animals that mark their
range by depositing feces (called scats) in prominent locations.
