As a New Year's Resolution, Bridget decides to take control of her life, starting by keeping a diary in which she will always tell the complete truth. The fireworks begin when her charming though disreputable boss takes an interest in the quirky Miss Jones. Thrown into the mix are Bridget's band of slightly eccentric friends and a rather disagreeable acquaintance that Bridget cannot seem to stop running into or help finding quietly attractive.
Actors:
Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones, American Actress
Hugh Grant as Daniel Cleaver, English Actor
Colin Firth as Mark Darcy, English Actor
Gemma Jones as Mrs. Jones, English Actress
Jim Broadbent as Mr. Jones, English actor
Celia Imrie as Una Alconbury, English Actress
Director: Sharon Maguire
Style: Romantic Comedy.
Produced by: Studio Canal and Working title film, which is a British founded company.
Distributed by: Miramax films and Universal Pictures
Why I consider it to be british: Bridget Jones was largely shot on location in London and the Home Counties. Stansted Airport doubled as JFK Airport in New York, while Syon House in Brentford featured as the venue for the anniversary party. Snowshill in Worcestershire featured as the home of Bridget Jones' family. Also the main actors are all British however even though the main character is American, it works as a advantage as it attracts a American audience.
Released: 13th April 2001.
Budget: $26,000,000 (estimated)
Opening Weekend: $10,733,933 (USA) (15 April 2001) (1611 Screens)
Gross: $71,500,556 (USA) (5 August 2001)
