Allan Cain, DW Director, gave a presentation on "Housing Micro-Finance & Informal Land Markets: the case of KixiCrédito Angola" at the Panel of the Centre for African Housing Finance Habitat 3 Conference on Informal Settlements that took place in Pretoria, South Africa from April 7 to 8, 2016
Angola has made a declaration of the political will of the State to resolve the urban problems associated with the post-conflict shortfall in the supply of housing. Public commitments have been made by senior political officials regarding the urgency of ensuring that each citizen has a decent place to live (the most important being the promise made by the head of state in 2008 – to build 1 million homes). From the practical point of view, Angola’s housing policy is still being developed along with a formalised housing sector programme.
ASSESSMENT OF THE BALANCED HOUSING DEVELOPMENT COMPLIANCE IN THE PHILIPPINE...Gus Agosto
This study examines the compliance of balanced housing development program in Cebu
City, its contribution in housing the poor and in urban development. In particular, the paper
sought to know what modalities were availed in the compliance, how it fares to the housing
backlog of the city, and what its role in urban development. It focuses on the 52 compliance
projects of real estate developers in Cebu City for the period of 2003 to 2014. The study
found out that there are 1,525 house and lot units, 871 lots or a total area of 81,723.4 square
meters provided as proof of compliance; the common mode of compliance is through
development of a socialized housing equivalent to either 20% of the total project area or 20%
of the total cost of the main project. The balanced housing compliance in Cebu City is a
dismal contribution in providing affordable housing to the poor. The developer’s choice of
mode of compliance was premised not only to comply, but to profit. Balanced housing
development was implemented in the narrow context of providing “shelter”, not in urban
development. In longer perspective, balanced housing development should inspire us towards
the path of a sustainable and balanced community.
•The Mission addresses urban housing shortage among the EWS/LIG and MIG categories including the slum dwellers by ensuring a pucca house for all eligible urban households by the year 2022.

Policies and programs have their context and importance in taking forward the objectives they intend to define, achieve and promote. Framing rational policies and programs have been considered crucial for any state and nation to achieve the goals they define. Numerous policies and programs have been evolved and are being evolved by the community of nations in the domain of affordable housing to achieve the universal goal of -Housing for All. Housing policies try to define the status of housing in the country; prevailing socio-economic conditions of the populations; roadblocks which are hampering the provision of adequate housing and the options which can be leveraged in achieving the defined objective of housing for all. Policies also tend to identify the different players which can be involved in creating adequate housing and the manner of incentivizing them. In order to understand the gamut of various policies and programs, paper looks at the Indian and Singapore policy of affordable housings. In addition , it also looks at the rental housing policies and policies framed at state level in India for making affordable housing a distinct reality. Policies also look at the norms and standards defined for housing in the affordable section

Inadequate Urban Housing continues to plague Nigeria. Various efforts in the past has been concentrated around government control or entirely private sector provision, the prevailing result has been inadequate delivery where government directly contracts out housing schemes, and expensive housing where intervention by private enterprise.
Our proposal to the government in the article submitted, is to create conducive climate for private investment in housing provision. If government makes it cheaper for private business to develop housing, their deliveries will be cheap and withing reach of the lower income earners.

In 2020, the Ministry of Home Affairs established a committee led by Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, former Vice Chancellor of National Law University (NLU), Delhi. This committee was tasked with reviewing the three codes of criminal law. The primary objective of the committee was to propose comprehensive reforms to the country’s criminal laws in a manner that is both principled and effective.
The committee’s focus was on ensuring the safety and security of individuals, communities, and the nation as a whole. Throughout its deliberations, the committee aimed to uphold constitutional values such as justice, dignity, and the intrinsic value of each individual. Their goal was to recommend amendments to the criminal laws that align with these values and priorities.
Subsequently, in February, the committee successfully submitted its recommendations regarding amendments to the criminal law. These recommendations are intended to serve as a foundation for enhancing the current legal framework, promoting safety and security, and upholding the constitutional principles of justice, dignity, and the inherent worth of every individual.

Govt’ but who sold, lease, or transferred the same and settled illegally in the same place or ni
