Mills Elementary School is currently over capacity by 244 students, with 1080 students total in the school which has a permanent capacity of only 836 students. Additional classrooms and portables have been added but the school remains overcrowded. The school held a meeting to get input from parents on priorities for adjusting school boundaries to relieve overcrowding while minimizing impacts to students. Surveys completed by parents after the meeting found their top priorities to be quality of education, location of the school, allowing currently enrolled students to remain or be "grandfathered", and minimizing impacts to property taxes from any boundary changes.
