The book review discusses a book about narration in comics written by Thierry Groensteen, a Belgian author. The book is divided into 8 chapters and examines the topic of comics narration. The quote indicates that the study of comics (the 9th art) is still developing as the origins of comics are still debated.
6. “The fact that the birth of comics is still a subject of
discussion and disagreement shows just how retarded the
study of the 9th art is.”

Editor's Notes
Good morning everyone!
Today I’m going to do a little review of the last book I’ve read, that is entitled ‘Comics and Narration’ by Thierry Groensteen.
But first, let me talk you about this author. As I mentioned before, his name is Thierry Groensteen and he was born in Belgium on 1957.
He is one of the leading French-speaking comics researchers and theorists of all the time.
‘Comics and Narration’ by Thierry Groensteen (published in 2013) is an explanatory book about the narration on comics and how its structure works even on abstract comics. To explain this theory we are given some examples of comic illustrations. The book is divided into 8 chapters.
If you are interested in comics or in its illustrations then yes, I would definitely recommend you this book. It helps to understand the structure a comic should follow along with another interesting comic theories. In fact, if you are thinking about reading it I would also recommend you to read before ‘The system of Comics’ by the same author, which is like the first part of the book I’ve reviewed.
And that’s all. Thank you so much for your attention!
