Bodoni is a serif typeface designed by Giambattista Bodoni in 1798. It was classified as a Didone modern typeface. Bodoni followed the ideas of John Baskerville, taking the increased stroke contrast and more vertical, slightly condensed uppercase to a more extreme conclusion. Over his career, Bodoni's designs evolved to have narrower structure, flat serifs, extreme contrast between thick and thin strokes, and an overall geometric construction. While his earlier designs are transitional, his later designs are considered modern.
