WAS IT WORTH IT? It was a huge stress reliever for me that you were able to accommodate my travel schedule back and forth to Mass. and work with me long-distance as well in order to get the house on the market in little more than a month's time.   I really could not believe that we were able to get everything cleared out from the attic to the basement -- all of which were crammed full of 35 years' worth of stuff -- so quickly and efficiently.  I never could have done this on my own.   Additionally, your contacts with movers, cleaners, re-sellers, and other disposal resources were invaluable and also saved a lot of time and hassle for me.   I never could have found all of the best people on my own without a lot of time-consuming phone calls and other follow-up .  From selling the car, to holding the yard sale, to supervising the movers, you accomplished everything just as I requested and I appreciated the regular updates by both phone and e-mail. As you know, it looks like the house will be sold, pending the closing, as of today -- after only one week on the market.   I never could have gotten this done and off my plate so quickly without your help.  It was well worth your fee, and I would recommend your services to anyone who contacts me to inquire. Thank you again, and I wish you the best with your business.   You really did move me from frazzled to dazzled! Linda Aguirre Miami, Florida July 20, 2009
THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY! “ I'm not sure if stories help but I wanted to tell you how my Aunt and Uncle made out being stubborn. ;) The movers arrived and none of their clothes were packed, thank goodness Mike and I stopped by (they told us not to come but we did anyway). They had disconnected their phone early thus disconnecting their life alert button, the arrive at their new house that only has 1/2 electricity and no A/C. The temp got up to 92 in there that day! Their phone wasn't connected correctly so they again went without a way to contact for help if needed - they are 85 and 70. I won't bore you with the entire story but this is a few things that went ary due to their stubbornness. They are still in disarray with things not in place, still some things in a mini storage etc. I so give you credit for what you do and think everyone should hire someone like you when they move! :) “ Take care, Betsy

Editor's Notes

  • #2 WITTZ END works with seniors, baby boomers and their families who are struggling with the process of downsizing and preparing to move. WE comes in to help when where they are moving and overwhelmed with the prospect of sorting, organizing and letting go of items they have. WITTZ END provides the no how, woman power and expertise to work with clients and eliminate their stress and anxiety. WITTZ END orchestrates the move from start to finish by successfully clearing items from their old home and settling them into their new home and everything in between. WITTZ END moves them from FRAZZLED to DAZZLED.
  • #3 Everyone of us underestimate how much time certain tasks will take us! Oh, it will only take me a few minutes to run to the store and pick up what I need for dinner! An hour and half later you get back-slow checkout line, traffic, the kids didn’t cooperate etc. etc. We always think we can do it better, faster and cheaper than someone else.
  • #6 To prepare to move it on average takes 40-130 hours, over 4-8 weeks, when working with older or elderly people. You can probably do it faster without the person being on site. This move took 80 hours in a little over 3 weeks!
  • #7 I broke down some of the major tasks that are involved in moving. This doesn’t count endless phones calls to cancel and connect services, returning cable boxes etc. And the unexpected things that come up during the course of a move – the movers are late, or the charity doesn’t show up to pick up etc.
  • #8 This is a list of people that are prime candidates to help when Mom and Dad need to downsize and move. DO THEY HAVE THE TIME?
  • #9 These are many, not all, considerations that people should think about when deciding the best method of helping parents or older people to move. How much are these times worth?
  • #10 Grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews and in-laws will have many, if not all, of these same issues and won’t be of much help when push comes to shove. Friends – who are in the same age bracket will not be much help and you wouldn’t want them to be hurt.
  • #12 These are some of the area that a Professional move manager/concierge do help families we work with. Making the endless phones calls, to movers, appraisers, and other venders to set up appointments being on site for appointments organize, sort and dispose of items – arrange for pickups from charities, arrange movement of items to other parts of country etc Help to resolve problems and disputes among family members. over see packing and move process; run and manage estate/moving sales return cable boxes, run errands i.e. RMV. all family the time to deal with other issues – medical, housing, legal
  • #13 Cost Comparison between Do it yourself and professional move managers! Having a profession move manager provides an estimated savings of over $2,600. It can cut cost of the mover because everything is organized, disposed of, and prepared properly. The personal time savings is whatever someone values their time! Everyone values their time differently and at certain times it is PRICELESS!
  • #14 This is what my recent client said about my service ‘’ I NEVER COULD HAVE DONE THIS ON MY OWN.” “ I NEVER COULD HAVE FOUND ALL THE BEST PEOPLE ON MY OWN WITHOUT A LOT OF TIME-CONSUMING PHONES CALLS AND OTHER FOLLOW-UP” and “IT WAS WELL WORTH YOUR FEE.”
  • #15 Then there is the other side of the story – This is a person who I talked with about using my services and they didn’t. I just received this email the beginning of the weekend. It doesn’t matter whether they were being stubborn or thrifty this move should not have gone as bad as it did. WHICH MOVE WAS THE BETTER ONE?
  • #16 These are just a few good referrals for WITTZ END. Just to give you a brief idea. You never know where and when you will come across a person that could use WITTZ END
