INTRODUCTION
• Human brain, the most valuable creation of God. The man
is called intelligent because of the brain .Today we are
developed because we can think, that other animals can
not do .But we loss the knowledge of a brain when the
body is destroyed after the death . That knowledge might
have been used for the development of the human
society. What happen if we create a brain and upload the
contents of natural brain into it.
• “Blue brain” –The name of the world’s first virtual brain.
That means a machine that can function as human brain
BLUE BRAIN
• The IBM is now developing a virtual brain known as the
BLUE BRAIN
• Today scientists at the Brain Mind Institute at
Switzerland's Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne
(EPFL) and IBM engineers are in research to create an
artificial brain that can think, response, take decision,
and keep anything in memory. The main aim is to
upload human brain into machine.
• If possible, this would be the first virtual brain of the
world.
VIRTUAL BRAIN
• Virtual brain is not a natural brain but an
artificial brain and it can work similarly.
• It can think like brain , take decisions based on
the past experience , and response as the
natural bran can.
• It is possible by using a supercomputer ,with a
huge amount of storage capacity ,processing
power and an interface between the human
brain and this artificial one .
• Through this interface the data stored in the
natural brain can be uploaded into the
computer .
WHY WE NEED VIRTUAL BRAIN?
• We can upload the contents of
natural brain into it.
• To keep the intelligence ,
knowledge and skill of any person
for ever .
• To predict the global brain
behavior and function starting
from small groups of neurons.
• capability to track normal and
physiological brain modifications
between different life stages
HOW IT IS POSSIBLE?
• Raymond Kurzweil recently provided an interesting paper on this topic.
• He described 2 techniques : invasive and noninvasive
• The most promising is the use of very small robots, or nanobots. These
robots will be small enough to travel throughout our circulatory systems.
• Travelling into the spine and brain, they will be able to monitor the activity
and structure of our central nervous system.
• Nanobots could also carefully scan the structure of our brain, providing a
complete readout of the connections between each neuron. They would also
record the current state of the brain.
• This information, when entered into a computer, could then continue to
NANOBOTS
• Nanobots are robots that carry out a very specific function and are ~50–
100 nm wide.
• Another definition is a robot that allows precise interactions with nanoscale
objects , or can manipulate with nanoscale resolution.
FUNCTIONING OF HUMAN
BRAIN
• Sensory Input :
Receiving input such as sound ,image, etc through sensory cell.
• Integration :
known as the interpretation of things we have felt, tasted, and
touched with our sensory cells, also known as neurons, into responses
that the body recognizes.
• Motor Output :
our brain sends a message through neurons to effecter cells, muscle
or gland cells, which actually work to perform our requests and act upon
the environment. How we see, hear, feel, smell, and take decision.

NATURAL BRAIN
Input : The body receives the input by
sensory cells. This sensory cell produces
electric impulses which are received by
neurons. The neurons transfer these electric
impulses to the brain.
Interpretation: By different states of neurons
in the brain
Output: Through the natural neurons
Processing : Past experience and
Arithmetic&Logic calculations
Memory: Through permanent states of
neurons
SIMULATED BRAIN
Input: The scientist has created artificial neurons
by replacing them with the silicon chip. It has
also been tested that these neurons can receive
the input from the sensory cells.
Interpretation : By a set of bits in the set of register
Output:Through the silicon chip
Processing :Arithmetic&Logic calculations and using
some stored states and received input
Memory: Through secondary memory
