3. ABSTRACT
• This paper describes about BLUE BRAIN TECHNOLOGY.
• Human Brain is the most remarkable creation of God.
• The man is intelligent because of the brain.
• Blue Brain is the name of the world’s first virtual brain. This means that the machine
can function as human brain.
• Today scientists are in research to create an artificial brain that can think, response,
take decision, and keep anything in memory.
• The main aim is to upload human brain into machine. So that man can think, take
decision without any effort.
• Even after the death of the person, the virtual brain will act as the man.
4. INTRODUCTION
• This project was started in May 2005 by HENRY MARKRAM at the Ecole Polytechnique
Federale de Lanusanne (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
• The goals and objectives of this project are to upload the contents of the natural brain in a
Computer.
• Mind uploading can be done by either of the two methods:
1. Copy and transfer.
2. Slow and steady replacement of neurons.
• When the body is shattered after the demise of man the knowledge of a brain is lost. That
knowledge might have been used for the progress of the human culture.
• The simulations are carried out by BLUE GENE SUPERCOMPUTER built by IBM,
hence the name Blue Brain.
5. WHAT IS BLUE BRAIN?
“BLUE BRAIN” - The name of the
world’s first virtual brain. That means a
machine that can function as human
brain.
The idea behind BLUE BRAIN is to
know some aspects of human
identification.
The IBM is now developing a virtual
brain known as Blue Brain. It would be
the world’s first virtual brain.
6. WHAT IS VIRTUAL BRAIN?
• A Machine that can function as
brain.
• It can take Decision.
• It can Think.
• It can Respond.
• It can keep things in Memory.
7. WHY WE NEED BLUE BRAIN?
Intelligence of the individual is an inborn quality which is lost after the death.
The virtual brain is a solution to it.
The intelligence of a person can be used even after their death.
In this fast moving world it is difficult to remember everything. So by using
virtual brain we can upload them into a computer.
Virtual Brain, comparatively has more intelligence than the natural brain.
8. WORKING OF HUMAN BRAIN
• Sensory input:
Receiving input such as sound, image, etc through sensory cell.
• Interpretation:
Interpretation of the received input by the brain by defining states of neurons in the brain.
• Motor Output:
Receiving of electric responses from the brain to perform any action.
9. BRAIN SIMULATION
SI.NO NATURAL BRAIN SIMULATED BRAIN
1 INPUT :
Through the natural neurons
INPUT : Through the silicon chip or
artificial neurons
2 INTERPRETATION :
By different states of the
neurons in the brain.
INTERPRETATION :
By a set of bits in the set of register
3 OUTPUT :
Through the natural neurons
OUTPUT :
Through the silicon chip
10. BRAIN SIMULATION(Cont.)
SI.NO NATURAL BRAIN SIMULATED BRAIN
4 PROCESSING :
Through arithmetic and logical
calculations
PROCESSING :
Through arithmetic and logical
calculation and artificial intelligence
5 MEMORY :
Through permanent states of
neurons.
MEMORY :
Through secondary memory
11. UPLOADING HUMAN BRAIN
• The uploading is possible by the use of small robots known as the Nanobots.
• These robots are small enough to travel through out our circulatory system.
• Traveling into the spine and brain, they will be able to monitor the activity and structure of
our central nervous system.
12. UPLOADING HUMAN BRAIN (Cont.)
• They will be able to provide an interface with computer while we still reside in our
biological form.
• Nanobots could also carefully scan the structure of our brain, providing a complete
readout of the connection.
• This information, when entered into a computer, could then continue to function as
us.
• Thus the data stored in the entire brain will be uploaded into the computer.
13. HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
REQUIREMENT
A super computer.
Memory with a very large storing capacity.
Processor with a very high processing power.
A very wide network.
A program to convert the electric impulses from the brain to input signal, which is
to be received by the computer, and vice versa.
Very powerful Nanobots to act as the interface between the natural brain and the
computer.
14. ADVANTAGES
We can remember things without any effort.
Decision can be made without the presence of a person.
Even after the death of a man his intelligence can be used.
The activity of different animals can be understood.
It would allow the deaf to hear via direct nerve stimulation, and also be helpful for
many psychological diseases.
15. DISADVANTAGES
We become dependent upon the computer systems.
Technical knowledge of a person may be stolen.
There is fear of human cloning.
Once a person’s neural schema is hacked, the brain could be against the
person.
17. CONCLUSION
We will be able to transfer ourselves into computers at some point.
It will bring both benefits and harm to human society.
Very soon this technology will be highly accepted whole over the world.
