INTRODUCTION
The blue brain, a Swiss national brain initiative, aims to create a
digital reconstruction of the brain by REVERSE
ENGINEERING mammalian brain circuitry.
The mission of the project, founded in may 2005 by Henry
Markram at the EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland.
As of august 2012 the largest simulations are of mesocircuits
containing around 100 cortical columns. Such simulation involve
approximately 1 million neurons and 1 million synapses(this
scale is honey bee brain).
In end of 2014 approximately 21 million neocortical
that is rat brain.
A full human brain simulation approximately 86 billion
neurons should be possible by 2023 .
The simulation are carried out on a blue
GENESUPERCOMPUTER built by IBM. Hence the
name is “blue brain”.
WHAT IS BLUE BRAIN
TECHNOLOGY
Human brain, the most valuable creation of God. The man is
called intelligent because of brain. But we loss the knowledge
of a brain when the body is destroyed after the death.
Could a simulated brain start to think, feel and experience
the world as if it were an organic, human brain?
“BLUE BRAIN”- an artificial brain that can think, respond,
take decision, and keep anything in memory, would be the
first virtual brain of the world.
NEED OF B.B.T.
Today we are developed because of our intelligence.
Intelligence is the inborn quality that cannot be created.
The Human brain is destroy after the death of a person,
so virtual brain will act as a person , so we can not loss
the knowledge, intelligence, personalities, feelings and
memories of that man that can be used for the
development of human society(e.g. super brains STEVE
JOBS, STEPHEN HAWKINGS).
OBJECTIVE OF BLUE BRAIN
IBMs blue brain project will search for insights into how
human beings think and remember.
Scientists think that blue brain could also help to cure
the Parkinson’s disease.
The brain circuitry is in a complex state of flux, the
brain rewriting itself every moment of its existence. If
the scientists can crack open the secret of how and why
the brain does it, the knowledge could lead to new breed
of supercomputers.
HOW HUMAN BRAIN WORKS
FUNCTIONING OF BRAIN

INPUT : through the natural
neurons.
INTERPRETATION : by
different states of the neurons
in the brain.
OUTPUT : through the natural
neurons.
PROCESSING : through

permanent states of neurons.

INPUT : through the silicon
chip or artificial neurons.
INTERPRETATION : by a set
of bits in the set of registers.
OUTPUT : through the silicon

intelligence.
MEMORY : through secondary
memory.
UPLOADING HUMAN BRAIN
The uploading is possible by using
of the small robots known as the
NANOBOTS.
These robots are small enough to
travel throughout our circulatory
system.
Will monitor activity of the brain
and structure of our central nervous
system by traveling into the spine
and brain.
They will provide an interface with
computer.
UPLODING HUMAN BRAIN
NANOBOTS could also carefully scan the structure of
our brain, providing a complete readout of the
connection.
This information, when entered into a computer, could
then continue to function as us.
Thus the data stored in the entire brain will be uploaded
into the computer.
REQUIREMENT AND POWER
The HARDWARE and SOFTWARE required to build a
Blue Brain…..
8,096 CPUs at 700MHz each of which can map one or
two simulated brain neurons.
256MB to 512MB memory per processor.
100 Kilowatts power consumption.
Processor with a very high processing power.
22.8 TFLOPS peak processing speed.
Linux and C++ software.
BLUE BRAIN POWER
Blue Brain will reveal many
existing aspects of the brain circuits,
memory capacity, and how memories
are lost.
The modeling is also able to work
out best way to compensate and
repair error circuits. The blue brain
model can be used to detect and test
treatment strategies for neurological
diseases.
ADVANTAGES
We can remember things without any
effort.
Decision can be made without the
presence of a person.
Even after the death of a man his
intelligence can be used.
Improvements in processing speed
and memory could make entire
human brain simulated.
The activity of different animals can
be understood.
Help deaf and mad people.
DISADVANTAGE
We become dependent upon the computer system.
Others may use technical knowledge against us.
Computer viruses will pose an increasingly critical threat.
Possibilities of human cloning .
If in future surrogates to humans are developed, there will be
no human interaction and the world will be run on computers
only.
APPLICATIONS
Gathering and testing 100 year of data.
Cracking the neural code.
A foundation for molecular modeling of brain function.
Understanding Neocortical Information Processing.
A Novel tool for drug discovery for brain disorder.
A global facility.
A foundation for whole brain simulation.
CONCLUSION
We will be able to transfer ourselves into computers at
some point.
It will bring both benefits and harm to human society.
 Eventually aim of applying terrific computer power to
the simulation of an entire brain.
Very soon this technology will be highly accepted whole
over the world.
