Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity order in Calcutta, India in 1950 to serve "the poorest of the poor." She and her sisters opened homes for the dying, cared for the starving, and nursed the sick. Though her work helped many who had no one else, Mother Teresa was humble and did not see her efforts as extraordinary. She followed the example of St. Therese's "Little Way" by doing small things with great love. Mother Teresa became famous for her compassionate ministry but stayed focused on serving Jesus in the poor.
