The Black Latino AIDS Project (BLAIDS) at UCLA was established in 1991 to educate the Black and Latino communities about HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and increasing access to higher education. BLAIDS provides information and condoms on campus and in local high schools, collaborates with other campus groups, and raises awareness about HIV/AIDS through tabling events. Run by the Black Pre-Health Organization and Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine student groups, BLAIDS trains volunteers regardless of membership to conduct outreach presentations in schools across Los Angeles.
