Initially, internet access was confined largely to
persons who worked with or owned a desktop
computer. Subsequent technological (and
commercial) developments led to a broader range of
devices that could be used to go online.
These developments meant that people were no
longer tied to a desktop computer and that internet
access on the move became a norm,
resulting in an expansion of internet use.
