Andaman and Nicobar Islands have high coral diversity with 179 species from 61 genera. Interview Island Wildlife Sanctuary is the largest island sanctuary and is covered by dense forest and mangroves. Over 5100 animal species have been described in the islands, including 100 freshwater, 2100 terrestrial, and 2900 marine species. The Great Nicobar Biosphere Reserve contains tropical forests, mountain ranges, and coastal plains with rich biodiversity. Lakshadweep Islands are dominated by Porites, Favia, Acropora, and Favites corals and contain seagrass beds of Cymodocea and Thalassia. They are known for fish, coconut, coir production and contain 36 islands and islets
