NishaReece is a native of Los Angeles but her roots begin with in her Belizean heritage
which has her deeply rooted in the music and old school sounds of her parents. NishaReece is a
healthy mix of both her heritage, her soul, her truth and her surroundings. She is a soul sister, a
unique beautiful young woman both on the inside and out. Most folks, if they had to live the life
or walk in the footsteps of NishaReece would surely go insane. Negativity follows this optimistic
soul, but she exudes a glow of pure positivity while pushing on through her storms. It is her
storms that help her formulate her renditions of both her poetry and her music. This young
woman doesn't look like what she has been through. She is a survivor surviving with the help of
her God given gifts, talents and her artistry which keep her balanced and sane. She has the
capability to eloquently express herself through words. Her music and her voice frees her from
those negative energies trying to bind her and in turn she gives birth to her truth through her
music. Some would say this bio is a bit personal but being just that is all she knows how to be
and the only way she should be introduced.
In her words, “Why sugar coat anything? Sugar coat your way of life, who you are, or
what you have been through; because all those things, makes you who you are". Her life makes
her the type of artist she is. She is an open book artist not caring of the type of pain she writes
about or gifts to the ears of her listeners. Growing up in a single parent home in South Central
Los Angeles was hard. NishaReece the eldest female of a family of twelve did not meet her
childhood. Childhood did not exist she was grown before her time making her an old soul.
Growing up fast made her an old soul far more advanced mentally than her peers. She has always
been an old women with in a young body with an adult perception on life with no time to be
young, think, act, or be a child. Being grown before her time was what groomed her into the
woman she is now, the artist she is now. She took her experiences, her regrets, her pains, and her
wishes and she wrote them on paper during her spare time. She took her life and turned it into art
and since the age of nine has been humming and singing in her head that then trickled to the pen
that then touched the paper. Using all that makes her cry, that makes her wonder, that makes her
question and those things and people that made her pray for something better than what she was
living and she turned them into her life's poetry, her life’s music and her life's art. NishaReece
turned her life's poetry into beautiful music, turned her life's poetry into her spoken confessions
of what is now called spoken word and those words into vocal renditions of those feelings behind
the pain which is now her music. Singing and rhyming her way into the hearts of those needing
someone raw and real to relate too. She inspires people to be optimistic in the midst of their
struggles, to be better versions of who they are even when it seems like things can't get any
better. NishaReece is a versatile and unique young woman and artist. She is not afraid to tell the
truth, not afraid to take her hat off and let her guard down so emotionally her listeners can feel
what she is talking about or feel what she has been through. Her poetry and music evokes clarity
and emotion, paints a vivid picture for her listeners even if they have never been through or
experienced it for themselves she is able to take her listeners on an emotional roller coaster of
awakening and understanding. Her raw emotion and lyrical vividness is what makes her unique
and keeps her in a world all of her own. She can't be categorized under one genre because she is
a cornucopia of all. She is Poetry/Spoken Word, Neo Soul, Southern Soul, Blues, Jazz, Spiritual,
Rock, Reggae, & Hip/Hop all bundled into one.
NishaReece is that rare find that rare treasure people would like to keep to themselves but
she deserves to be shared and should be shared with the world. She is strength for women and
children and she is the evoker of understanding inside the masculine mentality, she is the twinkle
in the eye of the opposite sex. That twinkle makes them listen to her. Her words are of wisdom,
she states, "The world is not a sick place but a beautiful one. The people living in this beautiful
world is what makes the world an ugly place. God intended for it to be beautiful. Those who
hoard and strive off of hate and sickness is what causes our pandemic of pain, sometimes the
way to heel sickness is with a common remedy of love and understanding. Through love and
understanding a solution, a remedy, or a vaccine can be released injected into the infected and
sometimes all it is, is love." NishaReece believes some folks have a destiny for greatness and
hers is to be heard and to share love and understanding. She believes she is one of the anecdotes
for our insanity's and our pains. She intends to be anecdotal through her music. Music is the one
thing anyone and everyone in the world can relate to. Music soothes the savage beast and she
knows that with music the artist can evoke a special spirit with their listeners. Music is power
and whether or not a person speaks a different language or not music transcends the feelings, the
emotions and the movement the artist is portraying to the ears, hearts and minds of their listeners.
The essence of music can heal or corrupt a generation and Nisha wants to heal hearts and minds
with her music.
NishaReece found her calling when she met Leila Steinberg 2 Pac's first mentor and
manager in Los Angeles at a poetry work shop called the Mic Sessions. The first time she hit the
stage and did her first poem in public it was a wrap for young NishaReece. She knew her destiny
by the outcry of the audience and by the remarks made by Miss Steinberg what her mission
would be. Leila became her mentor and took NishaReece under her wing and helped her to find
her voice. Now in love with the stage she now wanted to share what she had not been sharing all
along; her thoughts. Leila put her out on shows and in studios meeting people like Ray Luv,
Quincy Jones III (QD3), E40, Mike Epps, Napoleon from the 2Pac’s Out Laws and doing live
recordings for MTV and HBO for Leila's show the Mic Sessions and working in Misses
Steinberg’s non-profit Assemblies in Motions where she was an Artist Educator. Leila took her
and her talents into group homes, Juvenile Halls, Foster Homes, Elementary, Junior High, High
Schools, Colleges, Prisons and Universities to share her gifts doing non-profit work for under
privileged youth like herself and she enjoyed and still enjoys every minute of it.
Leila Steinberg initiated NishaReece into a world of possibilities put her in acting classes
where she studied with Michael Green and Associates Talent Agency so she can get more in
tuned with the artist with in and tap into a side of herself she did not know she had. Her acting
training led her to do a plethora of minor acting gigs. Nisha became self- aware and motivated
and developed the desire to be heard and decided to venture out into the world. She moved to
North Carolina where she became a slam poet and was a part of the North Carolina Bull City
Slam Poetry team for two years. She became fierce in her quest to be heard so she traveled all
over the United States with her Slam Poetry Team competing against other poetry teams from
every corner of the US and abroad. She also opened up her own poetry venue called Soul
Survivors in Rocky Mount North Carolina where she would bring in her fellow poets to perform
for live audiences and where she would use her own stage to be heard. While in North Carolina
she was picked up by N2U Live Band and show as their female lead singer doing the Southern
Soul Circuit. She also was able to perform her original music along with cover tunes for N2U
Live band for over 5 years. While in North Carolina she wrote hooks and sang for various artist
like Jim Jones under ME Music Works for Super Producer Jerard “Manifest” Wiggins. She also
had the opportunity to be the star Poet for three years on radio station Power 95.5 (Steve Harvey
Affiliate) with on air personality Selena Crudup for the Poetry Minute where she would be given
topics to write about and share on air with her radio listeners every Tuesday and Thursday in the
midday.
NishaReece is now residing in Las Vegas where she is currently working with Renny J.
(Reunald C. P. Jones III www.Facebook.com/RennyJFanPage) renowned and former
Parliament/Funkadelic, Donna Summers &Toni Braxton Bassist. His unique playing style has
blessed him to be able to have the opportunity to have worked with a host of other artists. With
the help of Renny J. NishaReece is skyrocketing with chart topping songs & melodies that will
establish her as a household name! NishaReece aims to spark a mood of enlightenment and love
while feeding her listeners truth and love through her music! She an Independent solo artist is
working on her debut self-entitled "Taking It Back". Now in Vegas getting her dose of Vegas life
she is on the rise. She made a vow that for every one of her albums sold she will be donating
proceeds to AIDS research. Her father she longed for passed away from AIDS August 24th,
2009 before she had a chance to get close to him. So donating to the one thing that killed him is
her closure, her love and dedication to her father.
Who is NishaReece? Well that is a good question. She is an Artist in every sense of the
word; a vocalist, a poet, a visual artist. A star on the rise waiting for her chance to shine. She
loves what she does, what she has been blessed to be able to do and she wants to share herself
with the world. She is a force to be reckoned with, a light needing to shine in the hearts and souls
of all. I believe that because she knows who she is, where she has been, where she wants to go,
and what she intends to do with her gifts, her power and her voice, "Voice is power".
NishaReece knows that she can make a difference in the minds of the young and the old and will
do so through her artistry, her voice, her poetry, and keeping truth in her words. She is
