Pilot focus area:
Viticulture
(from the Latin word for vine)
is the science, production,
and study of grapes.
It deals with the series of
events that occur in the vineyard.
SC2 Pilot - Objectives
 Title: “Supporting advanced crop data discovery,
processing, combining and visualization from
distributed and heterogeneous data repositories”
 Front-end demonstrator: Vitis on Grape Variety Data
 Pilot specific to crop diversity
 Scope: Aggregating and visualizing experimental data on
grape variety identification
o Support advanced grape variety data discovery, processing,
combining and visualization
o Customization required over generic service
SC2 – Components/Architecture
SC2 – Data Used
◎ AGRIS dataset (extracted publications with fulltext access on
viticulture)
◎ Datasets from the Agricultural University of Athens (raw, processed)
◎ Measurements
◎ Statistical analysis (binary/numerical tables, dendrograms etc.)
◎ Open Access Ontologies (AGROVOC, geonames, OIV descriptors,
Grape Varieties)
◎ Grape varieties (photos, descriptions, tables, characteristics,
geotagging, origin etc.)
◎ Experimental vineyards (photos, coordinates, soil information,
orientation, geolocation etc.)
◎ Field data (plant sampling, photos, measurements, geotagging, sensors
application and sensor data etc. )
◎ Maps
