MALONE FELLOWSHIP REPORT
Since 1984, the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations has provided American
professionals in academia, government, and business unparalleled educational
experiences in the Arab world through the Joseph J. Malone Fellowship in Arab and
Islamic Studies. The Fellowship projects its participants into the dynamics of Arab-
U.S. relations and provides first-hand exposure to the region's considerable cultural,
economic, political, and social diversity pursuant to increased knowledge and

Fellowship Activities
1. Lecture: Little Rock High School Model Arab League
 Date: February 28, 2015
 Attendance: 160
I gave a presentation at the closing
ceremony at our High School Model Arab
League about my experience with Model
Arab League and travelling to Qatar.
2. Lecture: University of Arkansas - Little
Rock College of Social Science and
Communication Student Research
Symposium
 Date: April 14, 2015
 Attendance: 25
I gave a presentation at the symposium
dealing with my experience in Qatar and Al Jazeera.
3. Article: University of Arkansas at Little Rock Political Science Website
 Date: 12/16/14
 Number of people impacted: 50
“UALR’s Political Science website is visited by Political Science Majors, minors, and other
students interested in the Department. The link to the article was also shared on several
different social media outlets.”
4. Lecture: ASMSA Talk and Article
 Date: 2/27/15
 Number of People impacted: 150
I visited my Alma Mater and gave a presentation on my trip to Qatar to a group of student
ambassadors. They then wrote an article so that the rest of the student body could learn
about my experience.
5. Lecture: Conway School Presentation
 Date: 1/27/15
 Number of People Impacted: 25
I wanted to give the students a briefing on Qatar for our High School Model Arab League
competition, unfortunately they had to drop the country but their teacher asked me to still
come and share my experience with the students.
6. Lecture: Bryant School Presentation
 Date: 2/11/15
 Number of People Impacted: 25
Bryant was the school that picked up Qatar for our HSMAL conference. I visited with their
students and gave them a briefing on Qatar and helped them strategize for their different
committees.
6. Lecture: Politics of Developing Areas Presentation
 Date: 2/16/15
 Number of people impacted: 20
My professor for Politics of the Developing Areas
asked me to give a presentation about the
development of Qatar.
7. Lecture: Switch Documentary Discussion
 Date: 4/20/15
 Number of people impacted: 65
For Earth Day, UALR hosted a screening of “The
Switch”. I was asked to talk about Qatar and their
energy resources. This spurred a discussion about
energy across the world.
8. Article: The Forum Article
 Date: 4/7/15
 Number of people impacted: 300
I was interviewed by a writer for our school newspaper about my trip to Qatar.
